Quote from Ratan Tata : Ups and downs in life

Quote of the day by Ratan Tata: ‘Ups and downs in life are very important to keep us going, because…’ | Today News https://share.google/7CBtct3sgXtSmu7c4 MG Warrier: 👆Widely known as a visionary industrialist, Tata wanted to be remembered as someone who worked in the best interests of business and was able to make a difference in the society. How to incorporate the quote in real life? To use Ratan Tata's words to shape one's life, the key is to change how you view challenges and setbacks. Instead of seeing difficulties as failures, try to see them as a natural part of growth. When something goes wrong, whether it's career setback, a personal problem, or a mistake, remind yourself that these “downs” are part of the process that helps you learn and improve. Practically, this means staying resilient during tough phases and not expecting life to always be smooth. Celebrate your highs but also accept the lows with patience and reflection. Each challenge can teach you new sk...

Warrier's Friends' Collage, March 27, 2026 : Assets Management

This refers to the report "LS Approves Finance Bill, Tax Rules Eased" (March 26). Common man is not amused to hear that "this Finance Bill has so much more for the middle class" or "the focus is on easing compliance and cutting litigation". In addition to his own struggles made more strenuous by the side effects of war elsewhere, he feels helpless with no light seen at the end of the tunnel. Unusual situations need off the cuff experiments to find medium term solutions for new problems cropping up every day. The setting up of Price Stabilization Fund is really a comfort. But the need of the hour is diversification of sources of revenue. This will call for immediate mapping of available investible assets and ploughing them into pools which will be available for accessing in times of need. Let's not forget the experience of 1991, when RBI Executives physically carried gold for pledging to borrow small amounts of forex. Like keeping vacant houses tena...

Welcome To Warrier's Friends' COLLAGE, March, 2026 Part II (March 18, 2026) A A Vision for future : Dada Vaswani Dada Vaswani - Wikipedia https://share.google/E6g8R2Zg6c8tjoqOY A vision for future - The Economic Times https://share.google/d77xT1xCnDs1DXvER B Part I Media Responses published on March 17, 2026 1) Economic Times Chat Room India's Economic Stabilization Fund This refers to your editorial "Stabilisation Fund Can Be a Shock Absorber" (March 16). The one lakh crore fund proposal has come at the right time. Beyond the functional role as a shock absorber, this fund can become a role model for financial institutions and other organisations prone to internal and external vulnerabilities. Institutions like RBI has built-in reserve systems to absorb unexpected shocks. But the government's own economic stabilisation fund is a concept which needs to be welcomed and encouraged in the interest of public confidence also. A related issue ...

Concept Of God

Concept Of God A cocktail of God, Russell, Marriage & Morals make a wonderful intoxicant for a weekend. Today, I was feeling lazy in the morning and I had not attempted to complete writing my daily quota of 200 words. I read this message at the right time. Shri Raman Menon, then a Tutor (Mathematics)who was transferred from our college (Govt College, Madappalli) to nearby Brennen College, Tellicherry had come back to say bye to his friends. He was asked to address the students in the evening. He was a good orator. The one hour talk he devoted to telling the story of Macbeth and for introducing Bertrend Russell to the audience. He mentioned about Russell's book "Conquest Of Happiness" which I later borrowed from the Kerala University Library. That book helped me to get introduced to Russell and I read some more books authored by Bertrand Russell. I found all of them interesting. Coming back to the concept of God, my experience is that the concept which is planted as...

Warrier's Friends' Collage February 2026 : I

Welcome To Warrier's Friends' COLLAGE, February, 2026 Part I A Editorial Warrier's Friends' Collage As some of you may be aware, Warrier's Collage was a daily message from me to my contacts during the pandemic circa 2019-21. The target age group was 18 to 90's (Yes, we had 5 or 6 recipients who were waiting for Collage in the mornings, one of them, who was in US, delaying his dinner by half an hour to one hour on days Collage was late to arrive). My collection of information and sharing with others had a humble beginning during the late 1980's. After passing 12th from KC College, my son got admission in an Engineering College in interior Maharashtra where his stay was in the College Hostel. To keep in touch I started writing weekly letters which I called "My Page" and in addition to usual letter, I started writing something about current affairs, history or whatever came to my mind and sometimes annexed some relevant clippings from newspa...

Sampath Board Of Friendship

Sampath Board Of Friendship I loved reading the piece "Allegedly, The Board of Friendship is here" by G Sampath in today's (February 8, 2026) The Hindu Magazine. I loved and hated "Sampath" since childhood (1940's) and much later I started loving to read G Sampath, author of the article I'm reading now. A Google search just now informed me why I am in love with G Sampath : "G. Sampath is the author of How to Make Enemies and Offend People, and the editor of The Pleasure Principle, an anthology of erotic stories. He lives in Delhi. Explore a thoughtfully curated collection of books that invite reflection, spark curiosity, and offer something meaningful for every kind of reader." Fair enough. Always consult Google when you are i doubt about what you thought. Jokes aside, G Sampath has done some serious research to improve the fate of the poor in India and failed, leaving it to the governments of the day to decide what is poverty and how to era...

Address mental health issues early

The article "Address mental health issues early" by Sadaf Choudhary and Prasu Jain published in The Hindu Business Line today (February 4, 2026) is likely to be ignored by many because it is authored by two bureaucrats. Let's for once, go by the content. The issue raised concerns all of us. The article highlights that the Economic Survey just released has drawn attention to rising concerns related to digital addiction, loneliness and mental health and goes on to place on record that the Budget now before the Parliament explicitly reaffirmed the commitment to mental health and trauma care while announcing the setting up of a new national mental health institute on the lines of NIMHANS, along with the upgradation of existing centres at Ranchi and Tezpur. The concluding paragraph "Finally, it is our collective responsibility as a society to pay attention - to take "code reds"* seriously." is a message for all of us. *"code reds" briefly refer t...

Remembering Mahatma

Today, being January 30, newspapers and electronic media will remind us about Mahatma Gandhi and his dreams about India. Yes. Destiny created Mahatma from M K Gandhi who lived for 78 years and died premature succumbing to bullet injuries on Friday, January 30, 1948. We couldn't realise his dreams. It's still a work in progress as V Anantha Nageswaran concludes* in his article "Steady, Steady...Go" published in The Economic Times today. *Concluding paragraph of the article "Steady, Steady...Go" by V Anantha Nageswaran, CEA, GoI, published in The Economic Times on January 30, 2026 : "India has done well since the pandemic. It's doing better today. But the world is more unpredictable and more dangerous than before. The next phase of India's growth won't be easy. It will be constructed through patient capital formation, relentless competitiveness, disciplined public finances and a state that learns to think entrepreneurially. In a world of ...

Soul Climate By Inez Baranay

Soul Climate By Inez Baranay I know most of you visit libraries. Please tell me how do you select books for borrowing? I know brief answer is not possible. Ok. Suppose you are at a Mega Books Exhibition. You have a budget of less than 1000 rupees to buy a book. The book you have been carrying in your mind for the last 3 months is just before you, priced within your budget. Which is that book? As age progresses, whatever the WhatsApp University teaches you about living the moment forgetting the past and not worrying about tomorrow, a lingering feeling that time is running out flashes in your mind (read 'my mind'). Then we turn to the realities of life and if you are spiritually inclined, think of one's role in the scheme of things of this billions of years old Universe. On a lucky day one stumbles by accident upon reviews like this giving food for thought for a few days. Read this in The Hindu Open Page and have just ordered a copy of "Soul Climate" by Inez B...

The Power Of Your Subconscious Mind

The Book On My Table The Power Of Your Subconscious Mind By Joseph Murphy Suresh recommended this book. Ordered on Jan 14. Received just now. Good book for knowing more about the human potential. Humanity is the most selfish species in the Universe so far. Every individual, the moment sees the light, starts crying and believes and expects the world around existed to serve her/him. Going back to "Bhoomiyude Avakasigal" the individual forgets that her/his right to the resources available is the same as the earthworm or elephant and it is for the individual to recognise the challenges and meet them to capture the space allowed. This book will help us get out of the maze. More later.

So, this week I have made Collage as light as possible. Enjoy the week. M G Warrier A Quote Of The Day https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/life-style/books/features/quote-of-the-day-by-ernest-hemingway-every-mans-life-ends-the-same-way-it-is-only-the-details-of-how-he-/articleshow/126120957.cms The quote One of his most iconic lines is “Every man's life ends the same way. It is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguish one man from another.” Here Hemingway reminds us that death is universal. No matter who we are, rich or poor, famous or unknown, everyone reaches the same final point. What makes one person different from another, he says, are the choices in between: how we love, how we work, how we handle fear, and...
