Warrier's Collage on Sunday December 3, 2023

Welcome To Warrier's COLLAGE On Sunday, December 3, 2023 Good Morning Last week, a short trip to Kerala gave reasons to live longer. One, it exposed the irrelevance of individuals. Two, it taught me how relevant it is for individuals to live life as it evolves. Sudha and I attended a wedding in Kannur : A Family Reunion I could be part of : This note is in response to a brief response from my cousin (Padmanabhettan, 90) who is also the seniormost member from my maternal side, which read : "I feel shameful that I could not recognise some of them. Sorry." I said : "No reason for feeling bad or sad Padmanabhetta... Despite health etc issues Sudha and I came from Mumbai to Kannur as we had not ever met some of our grandnephews and grandnieces and that generation relatives who were present here in Kannur. We became part of the videos and photos so that later some children will connect and identify. Not because it's important or great. Just some personal sat

Thought for the day Wednesday November 15, 2023

Thought for the day : Secret of happiness I have been coming across people who are happy despite worldly reasons to be unhappy and those who are unhappy though they are blessed with all good things others consider can make them happy. Let's take X from the first category (who are happy despite reasons to be unhappy) and Y from the second category (who feel unhappy though, according to others they have no reasons to be unhappy). From among the people I know, I have selected one each from X and Y category. I suggest you also keep an X and a Y from among your acquaintances for a discussion on the subject. I have found that X has been doing good things, given a chance, without bargaining on the immediate benefits for himself. Whereas Y has been wasting time, fixing responsibility on someone else to do the same job though he could do it immediately without much loss for himself 🙏 I have tried to be brief in my presentation. If you are free, please share one quality each you observed

Keralappiravi 2023

Keralappiravi November 1 Media Response November 1, 2023 Chat Room Kerala Development Plan Kerala formation day (Keralappiravi) Celebration lasting for few days from November 1, is an occasion to begin some longlasting reforms. In Mumbai, the world's largest Slum area, Dharavi is being rehabilitated using adjacent Railway land (about 45 acres) and encashing the rebuilding prospects in the area now occupied by Dharavi. If the principles applied for the proposed rehabilitation of Dharavi are adapted for redevelopment of Kerala's Coastal areas as also hills and tribal areas the thickly populated strip of land can become the first developed state in India. Steps like shifting people from certain areas and rehabilitating them in nearby areas, providing adequate transport arrangements for their travel to work place and other necessary infrastructure should be part of the rehabilitation plan. Riskproofing small loans

Copied below is my response published in The Hindu Business Line today M G Warrier October 25, 2023 Letters Riskproofing small loans* This refers to "Lenders flag risks in small ticket loans post RBI caution" (The Hindu Business Line, October 25). Making big banks go slow in lending to small borrowers for whatever reason will have adverse effects on the flow of credit to the deserving sectors in the economy. Credit flow in rural and semi-urban areas is already affected by the restrictions rightly imposed on cooperatives for valid reasons. Laxity in credit appraisal and supervision of lending to small borrowers was a byproduct of big banks using NBFCs, SHGs and other entities as conduits for delivery of credit in rural areas. RBI's present guidance is loud and clear about the inevitability ofe regulation and supervision of credit irrespective of the size of loans or the purpose for which money is lent. Central Bank has to protect the interest of depositors a

Collage in classroom: Bhagavad Gita 1

Collage in the Classroom Bhagavad-Gita perhaps is the most popular widely read and accepted among the available books on spirituality. It's believed to be part of the epic Mahabharata. From Adi Shankara to Nityachaitanya Yati, many have written voluminous commentaries on this comparatively small text containing some 700 stanzas compressed in 18 short chapters. From today, occasionally we will read the recent interpretations of various teachings contained in Bhagavad Gita, not necessarily agreing among themselves. Let's make a beginning: https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/blogs/toi-edit-page/gita-can-take-you-from-mediocrity-to-perfection/ Excerpts: "The Bhagwad Gita is a guide to self-management. It helps you understand yourself and identify your purpose. Your mindset and attitude play a pivotal role in success. Mark Twain said, “The two most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you understand why.” M G Warrier

Dreams Onam Celebrations October 8, 2023

Welcome To Warrier's COLLAGE On Monday, October 9, 2023 Friends Onam Celebration @ Dreams Complex where we stay was yesterday. A report : Dreams Complex Onam Celebration 2023 (Geeta Hall, Bhandup October 8, 2023) Dreams Malayalees have been celebrating Onam Festival in a befitting manner for about a decade now. After the break imposed by the pandemic, there was some hesitation this year when resuming the celebration was mooted in private discussion among youngsters during the Onam season. Response was encouraging, but the attendance at the first meeting of likeminded members in the clubhouse was thin. The WhatsApp group formed to move forward did the trick. When used creatively, social media can do wonders. Here's the proof. These days, arranging a function in a manner tailor-made to fit in to your requirements is easy by entrusting the work to experts. May be little expensive. But for Malayalees celebrating Onam Festival is a community event organised and conducted by th
