Ganapathy Festival 2025

Ganapathy Festival 2025 We learn new things from every experience. Festival is no exception. Every year, during the Ganapathy Festival, new dimensions of the content and context of the social event come to our mind. I'm reading the Ganapathy Atharva Shirsha mentioned here for the first time today : Ganapati Atharvashirsha (Ganapati Upanishad) - In sanskrit with meaning https://share.google/ILJdzpGiSTJrKy4Ms If you have not come across this, also known as Ganapathy Upanishad, I suggest, please open the above link. Knowing more may not solve our problems 🙏 Still, the awareness that we are part of the whole, or the diverse universe is just a passing scene, which will also pass, perhaps can give some comfort from the fears and anxieties we nurture. Art of Reading

Art of Reading The way you read decides the way you live. There is a short article "The way of reading" today published in The Hindu Open Page. The article gives insight into the art of selective reading. Many of us didn't get opportunity to know more about the different dimensions of reading. For example, we read lessons from a text book while preparing for an exam, a random page from a book while scanning books from the library shelves, board meeting papers as a shareholder or as a member on the board of directors, an article from a magazine and so on with different levels of concentration and allotment of time. Here the allocation of time and selection of material to read depend on availability of time and an intuitive feeling about the attention the content deserves. Suppose we had professional advice on time management and selection of content to read in this situation. We will be saving a lot of time which can be productively deployed in other areas. Think about i...

Last Quarter

An edited version of the following short article appears on pages 196/7 of my 2023 book "Open Book of Happy Memories" Sharing on the Senior Citizen Day, 2025 : M G Warrier Last quarter M G Warrier Call it last quarter or last peg or last leg or whatever. Dr N Gopalakrishnan used to repeatedly say in most of his discourses that "None of us were here this day of last Century, none of us will be there on this day of next Century..." After telling us a lot Gopalakrishnan left this world somewhat early. Nothing works according to our plans in life. But that awareness should not stop us from planning. Even when not a single train was running on time, we had Railway Timetables. Before marriage, I had planned retirement at 50, hoping to live upto 70 years. I retired at 59 and now I am 79. Luck has been with me like an angel. I'm aware you can't trust luck, nor can we inherit or transfer luck. Yes, we were talking about life. One thing I have learnt in life is ...

Warrier's Collage on Independence Day 2025

Welcome To Warrier's COLLAGE On Friday August 15, 2025 Friends Happy Independence Day 2025. Only a few days back I said "Collage in this format is taking a short break". Of late, planning doesn't work the way it worked a decade ago. If I ask my grandson Vihaan why things are not in control, he may tell me, "Thum boodha ho gaya... Pahale jaisa mat socho!" He is right. No, I am not going to translate for you. Just for clarity, the immediate reason for this edition of Collage is the 20th Anniversary Celebrations of the Kochi RBI Retirees Association. See Cover Story Nice Day M G Warrier A Cover Story : https://www.youtube.com/live/YBJ22Wmjk54?feature=shared 👍🙏 Great initiative. Birthday Musings, 2025

This day(August 9), that year (1944) something special happened in a single room outhouse close to my ancestral house (Manakkal) located in a remote village called Onchiyam in the then Malabar District of Madras Province. Below is a link to my write up recalling the event published during the pandemic (2019-20) : My Journey So Far: Prologue https://share.google/bDPZyq47T9cxqhJZg Excerpts : I was born past midnight on Tuesday, August 8, 1944, to be exact at 0015 hrs on Wednesday, August 9, 1944. Place of birth was a small outhouse, adjacent to our maternal ancestral house in Malabar. After the birth of my 3 sisters between 1926 and 1939, the arrival of a male child was an occasion for celebration in the family. Frankly, last 81 years, for me it was a mixed bag of happy and not so happy experiences, the former more than compensating the latter. Select Happy Memories have been included in my 2023 book "Open Book Of Happy Memories" : Open Book of Happy Memories : ( and O...
