M G Warrier A Collage Njoy Kaliyattam in North Malabar https://youtu.be/VKwb2_XWguE?feature=shared Ok Now get into this car and listen to the comments carefully. Those who have seen dirty clips about Kerala roads, keep watching the journey. Our roads are of international standards, at least in some stretches. Unless you go there, you will think the one pothole shared again and again on WhatsApp is representative of the roads in Kerala. Ok... Now watch this excellent video and listen carefully. We have readers from Kannur and Cheruvathur who will share Kaliyattam experience. https://youtu.be/VKwb2_XWguE?feature=shared B Current Affairs https://www.theweek.in/news/biz-tech/2023/10/27/tata-group-to-become-iphone-maker-in-india-for-domestic-global-markets.html Salt-to-software conglomerate Tata Group is all set to become the first Indian iPhone maker as Wistron Corporation agreed to sell its India plant to the group for approximately $125 million. In a way, it is also a continuation of the monologue I started during 1990's titled "My Page" then addressed to my son Kiran who was in an Engineering College Hostel in Islampur (Interior Maharashtra). Remembered this to recall that my messages are personal in content and nature. I've roped in many on the way. The two RBI Retirees Groups and some WhatsApp Groups have been supporting me in increasing the outreach of my messages. Many friends have allowed me to reproduce their contributions and responses in Collage. During the last 20 years, post-retirement, my timepass has been reading and writing. Publishing letters, articles and some books was incidental. Actually I discontinued regular contribution to newspapers and magazines during the C-Days, as I was not reading newspapers and magazines. Since last week one of the RBI Retirees Groups has some technical issues preventing members' messages from getting transmitted. Hope things will get sorted out soon 🙏 M G Warrier D Life Art of communication The driver of the auto (Let's call him Abdul) in which I returned from Ghatkopar today (October 28, 2023) is an excellent communicator. I was returning after spending some time with my friend Das. Das accompanied me to the gate of the residential colony, stopped an auto and said bye after I was comfortably seated in the auto. Abdul, 73, by asking three or four questions, found out the purpose of my visit, my relationship with Das and my personal details. Rest of the time, about 20 minutes, till he dropped me back at Dreams gate, Abdul was talking non-stop. Abdul has worked for about one year in Kochi and found Kerala a healthy, peaceful place. He loved a type of banana milk he was taking regularly while in Kerala. He was in Dubai for few years. A major accident involving the vehicle Abdul was driving ended his Dubai tenure. He survived the accident with several steel rods joining his fractured bones, long stitches and permanent damage to both his feet. He showed me a long stitch starting from back of his neck. Abdul lost all his savings in his treatment and whatever property left, he gave to his children who didn't show any inclination to help him in trouble. His advice is, never part with your assets when you are alive. Abdul appreciated my friendship with Das. He said I should recognise the friend's gesture in following me to the gate. He said I should thank God for the social security in old age by getting an opportunity to work with an institution like RBI. I'm still amazed by the story telling abilities of Abdul who could be an excellent motivation specialist, given an opportunity. Stupid me, didn't collect Abdul's contact details. He stays in some gully behind RCity Mall, Ghatkopar. Had cataract surgery for one eye recently. Till he can get the other eye also treated, Abdul can drive only during the day. He takes two hours rest during the day. One Doctor said, "he has Arthritis in his Left Knee.." The second said, "he has Plantar Faciitis.." The third said, "Just an Ankle Sprain.." The fourth said, "see that Man cannot lift his Knee, he looks to have Lower Motor Neurons.." "But to me he seems a Hemiplegia Scissors Gait," said the fifth.. Before the sixth could proclaim his Diagnosis, the Man reached the Group and asked, "Is there a Cobbler nearby who can repair my Slipper.?" Yes. Admittedly a repeat. But so long the Experts continue to talk in Social Media & Television on all issues this way, we will keep reminding..!!
