The Economic Times Chat Room August 5, 2024 RBI listens This refers to the article "Keep Ear Close to the Ground, RBI" (Economic Times, August 5). RBI watchers will agree that the central bank has come a long way from the days of "walking alone" laments from FM and occasional spars about who's right and who's wrong. This doesn't mean that the fiscal and monetary policies are now in total harmony. So long as multiple pulls and pressures continue to haunt policy makers, dilemmas and 'trilemmas' will be often used to describe thoughts of policy makers. Still, overall perception about MPC is that the policy making body because of the professionalism weaved in in its fabric, has become mature and each member is able to contribute to the three day deliberations in such a way that the end product on the third day is a near consensus view.
