The answer is an emphatic yes. We note with comfort the efforts by government and institutions like LIC and PFRDA to make retirement planning customer friendly by introducing savings products tailored to suit different segments of end-users. Introduction of NPS for minors is a step in the right direction. Moving forward, government can think of encashing the trust of the public in the government and quasi-government savings instruments to mainstream idle assets like gold stock and idle cash into regular savings accessible for investors on a need based basis. This could be achieved by : 1) Encouraging investment in regular pension plans for family members who are not in pensionable jobs. 2) Allowing monetization of deposits in gold-linked investments and long term bank deposits into regular pension schemes. Needless to say, the system overhaul will have to take into account the deficiencies pointed out in this article by ensuring provision of professional management of new schemes and use of user-friendly technology. This Texas musings by India's Opposition Leader will have a longer shelf life in the mainstream media for all good reasons. His honesty, integrity and innocence when he introspected and confessed the following have been ignored by the sensation thirsty media, today. He said : "Love to all human beings, not necessarily only people of one religion, one community, one caste, one state, or to those who speak one language. Respect to everybody who is trying to build India, not just the most powerful, but the weakest, and humility, not in others, but in oneself. I think that is how I see my own role." If he retains this transformed perspective when he returns to India, the role of opposition across legislative houses in India will change for the better.                        The King of Ragas                      --------------------------     Long ago  serpents were put to lot of hardships.They  were afraid of other animals. They had to seek refuge in the hermitage of sage Saraba.The sage was a true devotee of Lord Shiva.He used to pray Shiva with melodious songs. As he sang a particular raga the snakes were much inspired and they began to dance,. Slowly the serpents became friendly with the sage.
