Quote* :
"There is a tide in the affairs of men, which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat; and we must take the current when it serves.
Or lose our ventures."
William Shakespeare in Julius Caesar.

My review of "Finding My Way" @Amazon
Inspiring by being example
Reviewed in India on 8 November 2025
Format : Paperback
I picked up "Finding My Way" by Malala Yousufzai just out of curiosity to know the present status of the girl who was shot point blank on head to fame, celebrity status and a totally uncertain life thereafter.
While individuals like Malala surviving murder attempts or becoming famous unexpectedly continue on tracks of their choice or those granted by destiny, those who follow them for a while along with media forget their story and move on. I was not different.
When I read a review of the book "Finding My Way" and came to know Malala of 14 years I knew is 28 today, I was curious to know about the developments in her life during the last 14 years.
The book excellently summarises her story so far and justifies her choices during the 14 years. She continues doing what she opted to do after the turning point in her life and I don't think there was a better way to inspire and motivate like-minded people than leading by example*.

*In an interview when asked "How you will lead a team?" my answer was "By being an example". That was before Malala was born.

Letters
PSB Consolidation*
This refers to the letter about "Bank consolidation" (October 17). The concerns expressed are genuine. And naturally this will give ammunition to the permanent lobby waiting to show government initiatives in bad light, for whatever reason.
Post-nationalisation, PSB consolidation should have been given top priority, for the same reasons adduced in the letter. But for various reasons, it got delayed and only now GOI is coming out with a rational reorganization plan. Earlier initiatives were half-hearted.
The main rationale beyond having world class large-sized PSBs is reducing competition among same category of banks and integrating systems for introducing uniform customer friendly systems and services.

Gold management*
This refers to the report "RBI is Speeding up Bringing Gold Home" (October 29). Once upon a time, India had to carry physical gold to pledge and borrow a small amount of foreign currency. Hopefully, such situations will not repeat and the lesson learnt in 1990's will continue to guide the country in the management of forex reserves.
The move to expedite bringing back solid gold held abroad needs appreciation, as in the long term it's safer to retain our assets within our reach.
A related issue is the need for an institutional arrangement for managing domestic gold stock. Whether we call it Gold Bank or Indian Gold Corporation or something else, the need of the hour is a statutory body responsible for accounting, standardising and managing the country's gold stock, irrespective of the ownership of the gold.

Excerpts :
We are proud of you.
I'm one of the 50 odd (maybe more) Exrbites whose books were reviewed by you. Let me repeat what I felt after reading the review of my book: "The review is more professional, brings out the content and purport of the book in much lesser space"
Here, I remember with gratitude, your promise to review my second book also*. Your blessings will continue to be an encouragement for me to share my thoughts in public.
Many of us start our day reading PPR mails.
Best Wishes and Warm Regards

*This was written in 2017. You kept your word. Reviewed my second and third books 📚 🙏

How can I improve myself in 1-2 months?
Cut-off bad friends — drop the dead weight because they aren't going anywhere. It's not noble to let them hold you back.
Practice doing nothing — Regularly throughout the day, take 5 minutes to enjoy where you are without a need to fix it.
Harness Awareness — meditate daily for at least 10 minutes a day. Separate yourself from your mind and body.
Fix body-clock — Wake-up and sleep at roughly around the same time. You need some rhythm in your body.
Don't overeat — It takes a toll on your body and mind. Eat regular small, 4–5 meals throughout the day.
Develop a skill — Pick one interest and practice it every day. Writing or drawing, there are free resources to get started.
Educate on life — Read philosophy and books, from the world's greatest thinkers.
You must learn to live a good life. It doesn't come naturally....
