The Spirit of AVS
I'm not a believer in the sense the word is understood and interpreted by the majority these days. But I do pray🙏 and I have faith in the inevitability of fate's superiority over my power. If confused, trust me no one is clear once s/he starts talking about such issues.
Back to Aryavaidyasala Kottakkal (AVS).
This is our first visit to the AVS premises.
We came here for a pre-arranged consultation and arrived here on November 20, 2025.
Got admitted same day for treatment, tentatively for 14 days.

I LIE IN WAIT

"Life is a tale, told by an idiot," said an idiot who is synonymous with the term "literature," the great William Shakespeare. The story of the idiot named Vivek Vijayan* is no different than any other. It begins in a town called Kottakkal. The clock struck 10:50 in the morning of January 4th, 1986 and the world struck an appointment with Vivek. His only connection with literature up until the age of 18 was the Amar Chitra Katha edition of the epics, Ramayana and Mahabharata, the first five editions of Harry Potter, and the stories he heard from his Mum and Granny, apart from the odd writing competitions he participated and bit the dust in. In June 2004, he struck an acquaintance with The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown and the embers of the dream of becoming an author that the Harry Potter series instilled in him caught fire. The book kicked open the doors to the world of thrillers, where he still dwells! The journey to the fruition of the dream started in 2012 when renowned filmmaker Jayaraj urged him to write a story. What began as a script for a movie culminated into his debut novel; I LIE IN WAIT. His second book, a biography of his paternal grandfather Dr PK Warrier, titled As Memory Unfolds is about to hit the stores shortly.

In this Video recorded few years ago Vivek shares his inspiring thoughts interwoven with the role played by his family which is the AVS family in taking forward the mission initiated by P S Warrier by establishing Aryavaidyasala. He recalls and acknowledges with gratitude the support received from the same family in facing the challenges he himself has been facing since early childhood.

Delayed data, hazy ratings
This refers to your editorial "Data deficiencies" (The Hindi, November 29). True, delayed, inaccurate or unreliable data feed plays a damaging role in getting the deserving rating from international agencies. But that is only one aspect of the story.
IMF and all international agencies have their masters with remote control somewhere in the so called developed world. Their hands are tied and they are answerable when their decisions affect the wider stakes of their masters.
Time is opportune for India to think in terms of setting up a rating agency and a centralised Data Centre of international standard, which will understand the country, provide reliable data and advice stakeholders about the health of domestic financial institutions and provide crucial input to the financial institutions and governments abroad with which India has dealings.
Agencies like Standard & Poor’s (S&P) and Moody’s are doing their work within their limitation and even they would be benefited if an internationally acceptable rating agency and a multi discipline data centre are set up in India.
