Spirituality
Many of us are confused about the relevance of philosophy, spirituality, religion and ethics in the WhatsApp/Google/DOLLAR dominated world. Some of us try to translate every thought into the scientific, religious or political language and attribute one or the other motive even before a debate is initiated. To take a diversion, this morning I picked up Isavasyopanishad and read the Sanskrit verses and the English meaning.
For me the feeling was one of spending few minutes with a wise man.
The Isha Upanishad's core message revolves around the interconnectedness of all things and the presence of the divine within and without. It emphasizes the unity of the individual self (Atman) and the ultimate reality (Brahman), urging practitioners to see the divine in all beings and all beings in the divine. The Upanishad also explores the nature of action and renunciation, suggesting that righteous actions performed without attachment can lead to liberation while recognizing the illusory nature of worldly possessions.

Inflation expectations*
This refers to ‘Paying a price’ (The Hindu Business Line, July 22).
The concerns of the stakeholders on the impact of fluctuating inflation on multiple income groups from different geographical areas are real and have to be addressed sooner than later.
Perhaps, while revising the CPI basket, weightage could be given to the ultimate impact of the revision on the budgets of various income and age groups.

Inflation expectations
This refers to your editorial "Paying a price" (Hindu Business Line, July 22). The next MPC Meeting only two weeks away, this analysis is most relevant for those who are in the backrooms preparing notes for those responsible for policy-making.
The concerns of the stakeholders of the fluctuations in inflation in multiple layers of income groups from different geographical areas are real and have to be addressed sooner than later. Of course, MPC and RBI have constraints in balancing the pulls and pushes, primarily because the tools they use are not tailor-made with them in mind.
The reference is to the price index. Perhaps, while revising the CPI basket, weightage could be given to the ultimate impact of the revision on the budgets of various income and age groups. MPC may be in a position to give professional advice, if sought for, in this regard.

Bank Policies :
Once a woman forgets her favourite handkerchief at the cash counter…
The cashier keeps the handkerchief with himself thinking that whoever it belongs to will come and take it, but by mistake, as per his habit, the cashier puts 2-4 stamps on that handkerchief.
After some time, the woman comes and asks for her handkerchief, then the cashier gives her back her handkerchief.
As soon as the woman sees the bank stamps on her handkerchief, she angrily tells the cashier, "What stupidity have you done? You have ruined my precious handkerchief. Do you even have a brain or not?"
The cashier also got angry after hearing the woman's words and then he replied..."Who told you to leave the handkerchief here, we are not your servants... the government pays us to do bank work and not to guard your handkerchief, get out of here quickly.
The woman, fuming with anger, goes to the chief branch manager's cabin and tells him everything.
After listening to the woman very carefully, the branch manager asks her for a handkerchief and then puts a stamp on it which says "All our stamps are cancelled" and signs it with date. He gives the handkerchief back to the woman and says, "Take it madam, now the old stamp is not valid anymore..."
