Warrier's Collage November 27, 2021

Welcome to Warrier's COLLAGE On Saturday November 27, 2021 Good Morning Planning a Kerala trip from December 1, 2021. It was long overdue. While "Collage" will have an indefinite holiday from Tuesday, November 30, 2021, Group and personal interaction via email, WhatsApp and call, hopefully, will continue. Just for your information. Loosing father at the tender age of two and his wife leaving three kids in his care within a period of ten years of married life. Life teaches different lessons to different people. I love reading all his comments which are always philosophical and inspiring ..... The landlady Kristina is a 67-year-old single old lady who had worked as a teacher in a secondary school before she retired. Switzerland's pension is very good, enough to not worry her about food and shelter in her later years. However, she actually found "work" - to take care of an 87-year-old single old man. I asked if she was working for money. Her answer surprised me: “I do not work for money, but I put my time in the ‘time bank’, and when I cannot move in my old age, I could withdraw it.” The first time I heard about this concept of "time bank", I was very curious and asked the landlady more. The original“Time Bank” was an old-age pension program developed by the Swiss Federal Ministry of Social Security. People saved the 'time' taking care of the elderly when they were younger, and when they were old, ill or needed care could withdraw it. Applicants must be healthy, good at communicating and full of love. Everyday they have to look after the elderly who need help. Their service hours will be deposited into the personal 'time' accounts of the social security system. She went to work twice a week, spending two hours each time helping the elderly, shopping, cleaning their room, taking them out to sunbathe, chatting with them. According to the agreement, after one year of her service, "Time Bank" will calculate her working hours and issue her a “time bank card". When she needs someone to take care of her, she can use her “time bank card” to “time to withdraw “time and time interest”. After the information verification, “Time Bank” will assign other volunteers to take care of her at the hospital or her home. One day, I was in school and the landlady called and said she fell off the stool when she was wiping the window. I quickly took leave and sent her to the hospital for treatment. The landlady broke her ankle and needed to stay in bed for a while. While I was preparing to apply for a home to take care of her, the landlady told me that I need not worry about her. She had already submitted a withdrawal request to the “Time Bank”. Sure enough, in less than two hours "Time Bank" sent a nursing worker to come and care for the landlady. In the following month, the care worker took care of the landlady everyday, chatted with her and made delicious meals for her. Under the meticulous care of the carer, the landlady soon recovered her health. After recovering, the landlady went back to "work". She said that she intends to save more time in the "time bank" while she is still healthy. Today, in Switzerland, the use of "time banks" to support old age has become a common practice. The Swiss government also passed legislation to support the "Time Bank" pension scheme. 📯📯📯📯📯📯 What a Beautiful concept. Hope it gets adapted all over the world too! C Current Affairs Media Response To The Editor The Hindu Business Line Letters November 26, 2021 Market forces and funds flow This refers to the report "Role reversal : India Inc 'lending' to banks via AT-1 bonds"(November 26). This is an interesting story. Like water finding its level, if left to nature's course, this is a case of monetary assets finding acceptable and safer destinations, left to market forces. But, in resources management, government and regulators have a decisive role and cannot remain mere spectators. Government policy and regulatory measures have played a decisive and proactive role in chanelising public funds and nation's resources to priority areas till 1991. Around that time, external pressures and internal needs forced India, rightly so, to accept the LPG (Liberalisation-Privatization-Globalization) approach in policy formulation. Somewhere we lost track and the rich and the powerful got an upper hand and used their influence in bending and breaking established insulations which had till then guarded public interest. Presently, vested interests are using poverty and other social issues as a shield to safeguard their empire. If government and regulators yeild to this pressure, it will take much longer to bring back the economy back on track. Planning for economic development will have to continue to be subservient to government policy and regulatory oversight. Two Horses : Author Unknown Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it. From a distance, each horse looks like any other horse. But if you stop your car, or are walking by, you will notice something quite amazing.... Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him. This alone is amazing. If you stand nearby and listen, you will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, you will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field. Attached to the horse's halter is a small bell. It lets the blind friend know where the other horse is, so he can follow. As you stand and watch these two friends, you'll see that the horse with the bell is always checking on the blind horse, and that the blind horse will listen for the bell and then slowly walk to where the other horse is, trusting that he will not be led astray. When the horse with the bell returns to the shelter of the barn each evening, it stops occasionally and looks back, making sure that the blind friend isn't too far behind to hear the bell. Like the owners of these two horses, God does not throw us away just because we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges! He watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in need.. Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the little ringing bell of those who God places in our lives. Other times we are the guide horse, helping others to find their way.... Good friends are like that... You may not always see them, but you know they are always there.. Please listen for my bell and I'll listen for yours, and remember... Be kinder than necessary. Everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. Live simply, Love generously, Care deeply, Speak kindly....... FOR WE WALK BY FAITH AND NOT BY SIGHT E Blogs & Links A concerned citizen and an angry environmentalist : https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/readersblog/kuki/a-concerned-citizen-and-an-angry-environmentalist-39108/ Excerpts : "There are two things that can be done at this point of the crisis, healing and prevention. You can heal by planting trees. When I say “trees”, I am not necessarily asking you to buy the sapling for a mango tree and get on with it. You can start with small plants and maintain a garden and in case gardening is not your strong pursuit; atleast don’t harm the trees already existing. Water them, take care of them, raise your voice when they are being cut. Make yourself heard. Stop using cars like horses. Start walking to cover small distances. Use electric power judiciously. Switch off fans and lights when you leave your classrooms, stop using unnecessary appliances at home. You really don’t need those LED lights in your bedroom to be turned on the entire night. Stop wasting practically unused products. Quit wasting water. More than 25,000 people die of hunger and related causes eveyday. We only have a limited quantity of resources on this planet and we are running out. Learn to reuse. Stop wasting paper. Paper does not grow on trees. Trees are cut down and killed to get you that sheet of paper you used to make that paper plane with. Stop littering the streets, the rivers and the parks. This world is not yours to destroy. Everyone has an equal claim on it. We are privileged to have the quality of life we do. Not everyone has hot water to waste during your morning showers neither does everyone have food to leave uneaten at restaurant tables. The more the privilege we have, the more we are supposed to give back. We are living on this planet as if we have another one to go to. Sorry to burst your bubble but inspite of what insanely rich billionaires are saying, we don’t." Customer asks him : "Are there really 742 grains in this packing"? Youngster replies : "Of course, you can go home and count. My dad has counted and established that each kilo of green gram comprises of 3710 grains. Therefore, for 200 grams, it should contain 742 grains" Customer gets even more curious and asks the youngster : "What does your dad do?" Youngster replies : "He is also retired, like you" *Received from TRS Iyer Mumbai (Thank God, he didn't say, "This was there in Warrier's Collage." as this seems to be a repeat 🙏-Warrier) 2) Journey is short* I really like this story… The journey is short A woman climbed up the bus and sat down beside a man, hitting him with her numerous bags. When the man remained silent, the woman asked him why he did not complain when she hit him with her bags ? The man replied with a Smile: "There is no need to be upset about something so insignificant, as our journey together is so short, because I'm getting off at the next stop" This answer deserves to be written in gold. Each of us must understand that our time in this world is so short, that darkening it with useless arguments, jealousy, not forgiving others, discontentment and bad attitudes are a ridiculous waste of time and energy. Did someone break your heart? Stay calm. The trip is too short. Did someone betray you, intimidate, cheat or humiliate you? Relax - Don't be stressed. The trip is too short. Did someone insult you without reason? Stay calm. Ignore it. The trip is too short. Did someone make a comment that you didn't like? Stay calm. Ignore. Forgive, keep them in your prayers & love them still. The trip is too short. Whatever the problems some bring us, it is a problem only if we think of it, remember that our journey together is too short. No one knows the length of our trip. Nobody knows when it will arrive at its stop. Our trip together is too short. Let us appreciate friends and family. Let us be respectful, kind, loving & forgiving. Because we will be filled with gratitude and joy, after all, our trip together is very short. Share your smiles with everyone....choose your path to be as beautiful as you wish it to be. Our trip together is very short. *Received from Shivram Shetty Ex-RBI Mumbai G Quote for the Day " There are no perfect parents and there are no perfect children, but there are plenty of perfect moments along the way Dave Willis (Dave Willis is an American voice actor, writer, producer and musician.
