India's Tryst with Destiny*
"Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. It is fitting that at this solemn moment we take the pledge of dedication to the service of India and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity."
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's speech in both houses of Parliament was a historic one. Nehru's family sacrificed their entire wealth for the sake of India. Nehru was spotted by our Father of Nation Gandhiji to lead India. Nehru was born into one of the most aristocratic families on the 14th of November and this day is celebrated as CHILDRENS DAY all over India. Pandit Nehru was fond of children and was a democrat throughout his tenure as PM. Pandit Nehru was very handsome and a very pleasing personality. Nehru's period was marked with PEACE in India. Pandit Nehru was a very great writer and speaker. Many may not know his political career started only after his 40th year. Nehru wanted an Industrial India. Nehru also wanted to implement Democratic Socialism for the sake of equality among the Indians. Nehrus legacy was Indira Gandhi who was born on 19th November and she became the first WOMAN PM of India. November is noteworthy in this respect. We hail Nehruji and Indiraji NOW!
jAWAHARLAL Nehru died ultimately on 27th May 1964, thus ended the life of a visionary and statesman and democrat Nehru Ji!

It is stated that Hanuman inscribed Ramayana
with his nail on rocks. Seeing Valmiki becoming anxious
of his work being rated secondary, he threw away the rocks into the ocean.

After a long break, we have had a very constructive, thoughtprovoking issue of Collage. Thank you.
First, the Hanuman Ramayana: I have been an ardent admirer and devotee of Hanumanji. He has been an inspiring icon for me. When he tore up his own Ramayana in order to give more importance to Valmiki rather than to Valmiki's Rama devotion I am really moved. And another instance of Hanuman's devotion to Rama :

(Collage is not being issued on all days now. Other than Sunday, it's become irregular. Break has been for personal reasons. I think Collage has served it's purpose, as it was an offshoot of pandemic. In some way it's kept live, 'cos I continue to get encouraging responses. Let the interaction continue in different groups/forums.

Bisleri and Aquafina belong to foreign companies.
The money spent on buying this water goes to other countries from Bharat.
INDIAN ARMY PERSONNEL HAVE A SMALL REQUEST:
While travelling or while shopping check for "SENA JAL" (ARMY WATER).
This SENA JAL (ARMY WATER) is almost available at many outlets .
Army Wives Welfare Association of Indian Army has introduced SENA JAL. This is started by Madhulika Rawat, wife of General Vipin Rawat. The pack is available in half litre and one litre packs.
Cost of half litre ₹.6/-
One litre ₹.10/- only.
Other companies are selling water at higher price.
The profits earned from the sale of SENA WATER is sent to Military Welfare Committee.
The money is utilized on the Martyr Soldiers Families and Education of their Children!
The SENA JAL (ARMY WATER) is produced by Indian Army, hence there is no news or canvassing on TELEVISION or by ANY MEDIA. Very few people know about this since there is no ads/canvassing!
Whenever you want to buy packed drinking water, ask for SENA JAL (ARMY WATER) with the shop vendor!

International relations*
This refers to the report "Modi may meet British PM on G20 sidelines" (The Hindu Business Line, November 15). It's comforting to see that despite domestic pressures, Modi 2.0 is ensuring that the machinery handling international relations is maintained well lubricated.
We don't need an astrologer to predict that if approached with deft pragmatism, 2023 can help India more than make up the lags the country suffered during the recent years owing to the pandemic and other global adverse developments.
The arrival of world leaders and their teams in Bali well ahead of the meeting is indicative of the recognition developing nations have started to get in the fast changing world scenario.
More than anyone else, Modi is aware of this and therefore he can be seen acting quickly in the coming months.
If he succeeds in bringing his own political cadres at different levels in the heirarchy at home on the same page, India will move up in international rankings much faster than the present expectations.

3) Supreme Court ruling*
https://www.moneylife.in/article/insurance-companies-cant-use-exclusion-clause-in-one-sided-contract-to-deny-claims-supreme-court/68891.html
Excerpts :
"Once it is proved that there is a deficiency in service and that respondent No1 (Tata AIG) knowingly entered into a contract, notwithstanding the exclusion clause, the consequence would flow out of it," the apex court says, adding, "We have already discussed the scope and ambit of the provisions under the Indian Contract Act. Even as per the common law principle of acquiescence and estoppel, respondent No1 cannot be allowed to take advantage of its own wrong, if any. It is a conscious waiver of the exclusion clause by respondent No1.""
*Found this ruling of the Apex Court Interesting. Many of us sign on dotted lines (literally) in different circumstances. This ruling gives hope that if I sign a contract with A, and if A had consciously inserted a clause which makes the contract unenforceable ab initio, other things being favourable to me, A cannot go back quoting the said clause which by implication made the contract invalid -Warrier

Life : Parasailing : Who keeps us floating?*
Shri Panchapageasn's piece on Parasailing with a beautiful
poem is simply captivating.
I am reminded of a motor bike accident in Bangalore
in 1993, in which Hema, my niece aged 28 passed away
leaving two year old daughter and twins 21 days old.
Her husband 32, never got remarried. The eldest daughter now 30 conveys with tears her gratitude to her dear father who packed nearly 12 tiffin boxes daily nearly for 17 years. Her father managed alone with the help of a day care home in Bangalore, who took care of the kids from 9 A. M. to 6.30 P. M. daily. Her father used to get up at 4 A. M. cook for the kids, pack feeding bottles in early stages and lunch boxes later. He used to replace bundles of diapers, alternate dresses for use when they got wet. He never forgot to take dosages of syrups, medicines etc etc as prescribed by the paediatrician.
"Shiva is called Ardha Nareeswara as he had shared his left half of his body to Parvathi, but my father was all in all a 100% mother for us three' she narrates with tears. "He never forgot to pack even sanitary napkins for us when we attained age" she has recollected.
Now the eldest daughter is a Chartered Accountant, The boy is Lawyer and the other girl is In IT.
Today packing and delivering has become multimillion job. At the press of a button, you order for things you need. We get our things delivered at our doorsteps same day or within two or three days. Thanks to Amazon, Flipkart, Snap-deal and of course the good neighbourly Pizza Hutwala?
Leave alone the global Amazon, just think of the woman who comes to collect the thrash bags daily from our houses, the person who comes to sweep and mop the stair case and surrounding areas, the iron man who collects washed clothes and delivers pressed neat office dress and uniforms for kids. A girl daily supplies two muzham of flowers to decorate the divine portraits .
Air Commodore Vishal was a Jet Pilot.
In a combat mission his fighter plane was destroyed by a missile. He however ejected himself and parachuted safely. He won acclaims and appreciations from many.
After five years one day he was sitting with his wife in a restaurant.
A man from another table came to him and said "You're Captain Vishal ! You flew jet fighters. You were shot down!"
"How in the world did you know that?" asked Vishal.
"I packed your parachute," the man smiled and replied.
Vishal gasped in surprise and gratitude and thought if parachute hadn't worked, I wouldn't be here today.
Vishal couldn't sleep that night, thinking about that man. He wondered how many times I might have seen him and not even said 'Good morning, how are you?' or anything, because, he was a fighter pilot and that person was just a safety worker"
So friends, who is packing your parachute?
Everyone has someone who provides what they need to make it through the day.
We need many kinds of parachutes– we need the physical parachute, the mental parachute, the emotional parachute, and the spiritual parachute.
We call on all these supports before reaching the destination safe.
Sometimes in the daily challenges that life gives us, we miss what is really important.
We may fail to say hello, please, or thank you, congratulate someone on something wonderful that has happened to them, give a compliment, or just do something nice for no reason.
As you go through our life's journey, recognize the people who packed your parachute.
Let us thank everyone who packed our parachute one way or the other by way of our words, deeds, prayers etc!!

The Book
Women and Sabarimala : The Science behind Restrictions https://amzn.eu/d/ffEhf67
Women and Sabarimala is an answer to the question "why aren't women of menstrual age allowed to enter Sabarimala?" This book presents a never-before discussed perspective on the science behind the restrictions on women in the Sabarimala temple.Women and Sabarimala is a rare book and is written from a woman's perspective, explaining the nature of the temple through India's traditional knowledge systems, such as Ayurveda, Chakras, Tantra and Agama Shastra. At the same time, the author's personal experiences simplify the understanding of these deep sciences, providing a glimpse into how temples impact the human physiology and, in particular, women's menstrual cycles. This book will change the way Hindu temples, especially Sabarimala, are perceived and experienced.

With a fascinating origin story, the pen has more than just monetary value. It is believed that this pen was used by many greats in Indian history, including leaders like Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Rajendra Prasad, Indira Gandhi and V.V. Giri, Ramnath Goenka of the Indian Express and Archibald Nye, Governor of Madras. In fact, fountain pens inscribed with the names of the sitting prime minister and president are sent to their residences every five years.

Rama was prepared to move out of Earth, as the Yama Dharma tells Rama that time is up for Him to get back to Vaikunta. Rama along with his kith and kin moves towards Sarayu river to take Jala Samaadhi. He asks Hanuman whether he would also like to join the bandwagon.
Hanuman asks Rama: No doubt I would like to be always with you but when you get back to Vaikunta, you would no longer be Rama, you would be Vishnu. Nevertheless, can I continue to do Raama Japa there?
Rama replies: Yes I would no longer remain Rama there. You cannot do Rama Japam there.
Hanuman replies: I would like to be devoted to Rama on Earth, and continue to do Raama Japam here. I will not accompany you!.
Now on the fast catching up digital life:
The other day, I visited a spectacle shop to get a pair of spects for my wife. We showed the prescription showing the power of the glasses needed. The attendant in the shop put a machine before her eyes and asked her to see through. Then he took on his ipad the power of the glasses for the R eye and the L eye. Then a message flashed through our mobile. It showed the prescription as recorded in the shop and asked for messaging back the OTP. We messaged the OTP. We got a message that our order is booked and sought confirmation of it. We confirmed it by a message. Then we received a message for making payment; we made the payment of the price quoted for the glasses. A confirmation of payment was received on the mobile. After two days we were asked to check if the glasses would be ready.
In two days time we received a message that the glasses had been delivered to the shop and we could collect it after messaging back the OTP to the shop. We messaged the OTP to the shop. We went there. Glasses were delivered to us after verification of the OTP. But the invoice could not be got printed as the Internet was not operational due to bad weather! Saturday and Sunday are holidays and you may kindly collect the invoice on Monday, the shop attendant said.
Compare this with the olden days. Just give an order, go there after a couple of days, the glasses are delivered and the shop keeper gives an invoice /receipt with a carbon copy for his record!
Where are we now moving? There is nothing which you can do without a mobile phone, without an otp, etc. Beware!Tomorrow, you may not get your meal even within your home unless you email or give a whatsapp message to your wife and you receive and message back the OTP she sends you!
And on the power of dismissal or reinstatement of an IAS Officer.
It is interesting. But we now know more about Article 142 of the Indian Constitution, which is increasingly resorted to by the Judges of the Supreme Court to use their discretionary power. They earlier commuted the death sentences of some convicts because there was unusual delay in their execution by the Government, then they used Article 142 to release the convicts! Tomorrow, can they not use the same Article to dismiss or reinstate an IAS Officer? Who knows. I was expressing my wish to one of our colleagues in distress as to why the judges cannot take back the RBI reference of our pension revision case from DFS and give us the revision under Artile 142 because there is inexplicable and intolerable delay on the part of DFS in deciding the matter!! Are some hon'ble judges listening?
The story of resilience: Indian banking, inflation management.
It is gratifying to know that after a very long period, the PSU banks in particular have made good profits. ""PSU banks double net profit to record Rs 66500 crore in FY22""
For the half year 2023 it is said to be still better. Who should pat on their own backs? At least I believe depositors will have sigh of relief.
And today, as I write this, we have the news that inflation level in India for October 2022 is expected to be lower than 7 per cent and RBI will ensure that the downward movement would be hopefully maintained. Well done, Congratulations, MPC!

2) Expectations
"When one's expectations are reduced to zero,
one really appreciates everything one does have.
I'm happier now than before I developed the condition."
~ Stephen Hawking
Related story...
In the late 1970s, Eckhart Tolle spotted a man in a wheelchair at Cambridge University. He says, “I saw that his eyes were clear. There was no trace in them of unhappiness. I knew immediately he had relinquished resistance; he was living in surrender.”
Years later, he saw the same man on the front of a magazine. The unknown man was Stephen Hawking, one of the world’s most famous theoretical physicists. Tolle writes, “There was a beautiful line in the article that confirmed what I had sensed when I looked into his eyes many years earlier. Commenting upon his life, he said (with the help of the voice synthesizer), ‘Who could have wished for more?’"
~
"When you drop your expectations that a person, a situation, a place, or an object should fulfill you, it's easier to be present in this moment because you're no longer looking to the next one. Most people want to get what they want, whereas the secret is to want what you get at this moment.
Instead of creating expectations of what should or should not be happening, cooperate with the form that this moment takes. Bring a 'yes' to the isness, because it's pointless to argue if it already is. A greater intelligence is available to you when you no longer reject, deny, or 'don't want' what is.
People look to time in expectation that it will eventually make them happy, but you cannot find true happiness by looking toward the future.
Accept the present moment and find the perfection that is deeper than any form and untouched by time.
Some people get angry when they hear me say that problems are illusions. When you are full of problems, find the life underneath your life situation. Most people find it difficult to believe that a state of consciousness totally free of all negativity is possible. The collective disease of humanity is that people are so engrossed in what happens, so hypnotized by the world of fluctuating forms, so absorbed in the content of their lives, they have forgotten the essence, that which is beyond content, beyond form, beyond thought. They are so consumed by time that they have forgotten eternity, which is their origin, their home, their destiny. Eternity is the living reality of who you are."
~ Eckhart Tolle
