Because of my age and clinical records, I had to be totally isolated for well over a year and, in order to cope with this, I decided to publish a few books–two for children (one of poems and the other is a book of short stories) and a serious book on poems about paintings, plus my Magnus Opus, the collected poems of my last 60+ years. As you can imagine, I survived everything; I was too busy to worry about COVID. Living like a monk has its advantages: I had a lot of time to think and, as a result, I realised that I had been an ass most of my life. Why? Like most people interested in causality, I started my thinking–almost 80 years ago–from philosophy. Now, philosophy, of course, is very useful, especially when sufficient facts are not known. But now that we know the science behind things, we can start with a much more solid base." For him it is a very serious affair* comparable to self Realisation. (Continued at H1) *I unconditionally withdraw the observation that making "Pappadam" is a joke. Thinking of suggesting a "Maharshi" Brand Pappadam-Warrier V T Panchapagesan says : Tasty Papad is to go inward following our "Course" of action mentioned, and not to go outward with enjoyment. I am divine so you are!๐Ÿ™ V T Panchapagesan 2) Birth of a philosopher : V Babusenan Thiruvananthapuram I asked Google the question: between Plato, the guru and Aristotle, the sishya as philosophers, who was more influential? The reply was the latter. It also told me that they differed in many things. This was long, long ago. In recent times, we have had an analogy : Russell and Wittgenstein. During the initial years of the 20th century, Russell was teaching mathematical philosophy in Trinity College, Cambridge. On one evening of the year 1912, a handsome youth appeared before him and introduced himself as Ludwig Wittgenstein, an Austrian. I had a sleepless night The morning after, I saw the mirror Shocked, bewildered I ran away… ’Cos, I didn’t see me, In the mirror The mirror doesn’t cheat, I believed… I could feel my face, I touched my nose, But then…Where am I? If I am not in the mirror, How can anyone see me? How can I ask, Someone who can’t see me, To feel me by touch? ** ** ** A sudden ‘shout’… Brought me back To my senses… “Who has reversed the mirror?”* *** *It was a fancy mirror. One side mirror and the other side opaque. 2) "Taushif Patel Blog - Times of India Blog" https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/readersblog/author/taushifpatel739/ F HR at Home* Wife - Lets go for a dinner tonight. Husband (HR Manager) - Ok. Husband - Should we go to a cheaper restaurant ? Wife - No. Let's go to Royal Palace hotel. Husband - (silence for a minute) - Ok, See you at 7 O' Clock. On the way, around 6.30 pm... Husband - Once upon a time, I had pani puri competition with my sister and she eat 30 pani-puris and defeated me. Wife - What's so difficult in it? Husband - Defeating me in Pani-puri eating competition is so difficult. Wife - I can easily beat you. Husband - Please leave it. It's not your cup of tea. Wife - Let us have that competition right now. Husband - So you want to see yourself defeated? Wife - Let's see. They both stop at a Pani-puri stall and start eating... After about 30 Pani-puris the husband gave up. The wife was also full, but to defeat her husband, she ate one more and shouted, "You lose." The bill was Rs 50/- and wife was back home and happy as she won the bet. Moral of the Story... Main aim of a HR Manager is to satisfy employee with minimum investments. Winning attitude with less investment, ensuring strong Return On Investment! *Received from K Balasubramanian Coimbatore via Group mail G Quotes about illusions "Illusion Quotes - BrainyQuote" https://www.brainyquote.com/topics/illusion-quotes When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Do you see the real you, or what you have been conditioned to believe is you? The two are so, so different. One is an infinite consciousness capable of being and creating whatever it chooses, the other is an illusion imprisoned by its own perceived and programmed limitations. David Icke H 1) Continued from D1 Shri Venkataraman, who became Sage Ramana later was born in a village called Tiruchchuzhi in Tamilnadu. He was a normal child, exhibited no apparent signs of greatness. He was very good at sports, intelligent but lazy at school, indulged in mischieves like any other boy. In July 1896, he had a life changing experience, which urged him towards 'self-enquiry' that culminated within a few minutes in his self awakening. His essential teaching was the powerful 'silence' which radiated from him and calmed the minds of many devotees which included foreigners like Paul Brunton who has penned many books on Ramana. Many people have questioned Ramana as to how one can teach through silence. Shri Ramana Replied "How does speech arise? First there is abstract knowledge. Out of this arises the ego, which in turn gives rise to thoughts and words. So the word is the great grandson of the original source-silence. If words can produce an effect, judge for yourself how much more powerful the 'silence' should be. A few minutes of silence carries much more powerful radiations and vibrations than those created out of continuous discourses for months." Shri Ramana said "Trace the 'I' thought back to its source and find out where 'I' arises from. It will automatically dissolve in the source" Ramana Maharishi very often used to tell his devotees "There is nothing called 'realization' in life. What is there to realize? We have realized the unreal thinking it to be real. We dig a well and make a huge pit. The akasa or the space in the well has not been created. It is already there. We have just removed the the earth which was filling the akasa. Similarly with all the innate tendencies gone, the self will shine alone." Given below a small interesting write up comparing spiritual experience with preparation of pappad or appalam in Tamil as narrated by Sage Ramana during his conversation with inmates of Ramanasrama Near English version ------------------------- Dehatma Bhava, the black gram is broken into 'Jeeva' and 'Deha' by using a grinding stone called 'WHO AM I' Add a herbal juice in the form of ' SAT SUNG' Add Cumin in the form of 'MIND CONTROL' Add some pepper in the form of 'CONTROL OF SENSES' Add salt in the form of 'Detachment' Add spices of 'Good thoughts' Leaves of thinking 'I' and 'I' The pestle of 'Seeing Inward' stands before you. The flour is made into a fine thick paste with incessant efforts. Take a wooden plank called 'Equaliy' Use the flattener called 'Calmness' Get a beautiful Pappadam called 'ATMANUBHAVA' This is not enough. You have to enjoy the Atmanubhava. Take a vessel called "SILENCE' Pour the ghee called Suddha Brahmam Use the fire called 'GNANA' Fry well. You get an ever tasty Pappadam called 'Aham Brahmasmi' May Sage Ramana shower his grace on everyone. Vathsala Jayaraman (Mail sent to Chennai group on 29.12.2011 by me) 2) Continued from D2 The summary of what he said with great difficulty in broken English (Russell told him that he knew German and the young man could talk in that language but the latter was not inclined to do so.) is given below: Born in1889, Wittgenstein was the last of the eight children of a very successful engineer of Vienna. He took his engineering degree from Berlin Technical Institute and driven by a desire to become an aeronautical engineer, he came to England and joined Manchester University as a researcher on jet engines. He was specially interested in the designing of propellers for which deep knowledge of mathematics was needed. In the process of acquiring it, he was attracted to the basic principles of mathematics. He made enquiries as to whom he should approach for learning it. It was thus he heard Russell's name. Russell's book 'Principles of Mathematics' impressed him deeply. Would Russell oblige? If so, he would drop his research in Manchester. Russell was willing to oblige. He asked him to listen to his lectures. Wittgenstein's queer behaviour in the classroom led Russell to think that either he was a genius or a fool. He would question any statement at any time regardless of propriety and would not stop until he was satisfied. Once Russell said :"There is no hippopotamus in this classroom." and he himself looked everywhere in the room to prove the veracity of his statement looking at Wittgenstein's doubting face. Towards the end of the term, Wittgenstein came to Russell's room and asked abruptly : "Sir, tell me frankly if I am a perfect fool or not. If you think I am a fool, I shall go back to Manchester; if not, I wish to study philosophy." Russell smiled and said : "At the beginning of the next term, you show me an essay written by you on any philosophical topic. After reading that I shall tell you what to do." Wittgenstein did as he was told. On reading the opening sentence, Russell said : "No, Wittgenstein, you shouldn't go back to Manchester." Thus was born an eminent philosopher of the last century who, in influence, is said to have excelled his Guru.
