Welcome To Warrier's COLLAGE On Sunday July 7, 2024 A Book on my table Hidden Life of Trees, The: What They Fee https://amzn.in/d/0cDQdflv We look at situations and things from different angles. Our own thoughts and perceptions keep changing as new evidence, newer information confront us. Mobile targets, changing goalposts are all used in different situations depending on what we want to convey. These thoughts came to me when I got some idea of the profession and career progression of Peter Wohlleben and the content of this book namely “The Hidden Lives Of Trees”. If this author had a different background, the book in my hands would have had a different content. Wondering why I am telling the obvious? The reason is, many criticise authors for not writing things in the way they expected. Professional reviewers are among them. Some talk about the sketches and maps used in books or the paper used to print the book while leaving the content aside. May be I am also not doing justice to this review from that angle. Pradip Krishnan’s introduction has done an excellent job in telling us what to expect from this book and why. As an admirer of life outside what we understand as living beings, and as a plant-lover and preserver of trees, the author has expressed his feelings beautifully when he said : “The real question is whether we help ourselves only to what we need from the forest ecosystem, and- analogous to our treatment of animals- whether we spare the trees unnecessary suffering when we do this” B Tiny Truths : Vathsala Jayaraman 1.                        The King of Ragas                      --------------------------     Long ago  serpents were put to lot of hardships.They  were afraid of other animals. They had to seek refuge in the hermitage of sage Saraba.The sage was a true devotee of Lord Shiva.He used to pray Shiva with melodious songs. As he sang a particular raga the snakes were much inspired and they began to dance,. Slowly the serpents became friendly with the sage.
