After the Kurukshetra war, Bhishmapitamaha was lying on the Sharashayya (Bed of Arrows) exercising his option for "Ittcha Mrityu" (Death at will) and some more days were remaining for the appointed day of death when Pandavas under the leadership of eldest brother Yudhishtira arrived before him as advised by Krishna.
The purpose of the visit was receiving the knowledge about Dharma and related subjects of governance and righteous life from Bhishma before his passing away.
One of the several capsules of wisdom, this hymn is recited by Bhishma apparently to praise Krishna, but content goes beyond praise and is pregnant with the perception of Vishnu as the Universal Soul :

Meaning :
May my mind, freed from all material desires and purified by spiritual practices, be firmly fixed upon the Supreme Lord, Shri Krishna (the leader of the Yadus and the great self-contented omnipresent being).

Meaning :
May my unmotivated love be directed toward the friend of Arjuna. His complexion is dark like the tamala tree, He wears yellow garments that shine like the sun, and His lotus-like face is adorned with curling hair.

yudhi turaga-rajo-vidhūmra-viṣvak
kaca-lulita-śramāṁbulaṅkṛtānane
śataviśikhahato viśhīrṇadaṁśaḥ

Meaning :
Let my mind be set on Lord Krishna, whose hair was covered in dust from the horses' hooves on the battlefield, whose face was beaded with sweat, and whose body was pierced by my sharp arrows when He rushed toward me in mock anger like an aggressor.

Meaning :
Salutations to that Supreme Lord, the very soul of the Vedas, whom the learned sages praise in the great sacrifices, through sacred hymns (uktha), in the ritual fire (agni), and via grand oblations (adhvara).
