ONAM OF OUR DREAMS

Dreams Malayalee Forum (A group of 144 Malayalee families at Dreams Complex, Bhandup, Mumbai- The complex accommodates over 2000 families representing almost all geographical areas and cultural and religious diversities of India) celebrated Onam, 2016 with much more enthusiasm than many residential associations in Kerala did.
The flower arrangement on the eve of Thiruvonam by Malayalee families in each one of the 16 buildings in the residential complex was a visual treat.
The celebrations concluded on Sunday, September 25, 2016 with a cultural event followed by a grand Ona Sadya (Onam Feast). The programmes, which were representative of religious and geographical diversities of Kerala included Kaikottikkali, Thiruvaathirakkali, Vallam Kali, Oppana and Maargam kali in addition to several dance and song sequences by talented children and youth from Dreams families. The cultural programmes concluded with the visit and blessings offered by Maveli in his traditional attire. The sadya that followed had the following menu:
Dal, ghee, pappadam, varuthupperi (X2), pulinji, pickle, sweet pachadi, thoran, avial, olan, kalan, erisseri, koottukari, stew, rice, sambaar, rasam, curd, paaladappaayasam, parippupradhaman and pazham.
 A souvenir incorporating the profiles of all resident Malayalee families was released on September 25, 2016. A short article on Onam by Sunil Kumar Nair and the coverage of flower arrangements on Onam day through colour photos added quality and elegance to the content and beauty of the souvenir.
The organisers led by Anitha, Annamma Zacharia, Biju, Bindu, Chandran, Cini, Girija, Kavya, Krishnakumar, Mohan, Padmanabhan, Sachin and Siju deserve special encouragement and congratulations for the untiring efforts which helped in successful conduct of the celebrations.

They had to seek refuge in the hermitage of sage Saraba.The sage was a true devotee of Lord Shiva.He used to pray Shiva with melodious songs.
