Welcome To Warrier's COLLAGE On Wednesday February 1, 2023 1) J Santhanakrishnan uploaded a video https://youtu.be/FZNTEGklYrs (Link shared by S Nallasivan) 2) Lecture on Vishnusahasranamam https://youtu.be/oGdQqmKER3A 3) Peacock Dance https://youtu.be/iUEnu96vjjw Good Morning Since childhood when watching Narasimhavatharam Kathakali in temple premises in Purameri (Kozhikode Kerala) the Narasimha concept has fascinated me. In everyone's life, there will be moments when things get out of control and one wishes, some external intervention happens to save the situation. Art and art forms including paintings and poetry have drawn inspiration from such situations also. If you watch the performance and listen to the artists with these thoughts in mind, perhaps you will forget the controversy about God and religion and just enjoy the efforts of the artists. 🙏 After discontinuing writing articles on serious subjects, I have been posting short snippets at my Times of India Blog "WarriersViews". This is a space available to people like us to publish our thoughts which will be available at the website for subsequent retrieval and if we opt, sharing the link in groups or with contacts via email or WhatsApp. The link to the latest post is given below : https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/readersblog/warriersviews/twilight-years-49882/ Nice Day 🙏 M G Warrier Narasimhavatharam Kathakali https://youtu.be/5bJffJxQDVg A Messages/Responses 1) S R Badrinarayanan Shared a message: A group of friends visited their old university professor. Conversation soon turned to complaints about 'STRESS' & 'TENSION' in Life. Professor offered them Coffee & returned from kitchen with Coffee in different kinds of cups !!! (Glass Cups, Crystal Cups, Shining Ones, Some Plain Looking, Some Ordinary & Some Expensive Ones......) When all of them had a Cup in Hand, the professor said:- "If you noticed- all the Nice Looking & Expensive Cups are taken up, leaving behind the ordinary ones !! Everyone of you wanted the Best CUPS, & that is the source of your STRESS & TENSION !! What you really wanted was "Coffee", not the "Cup" ! But you still went for the Best Cup. If Life is Coffee ; Then Jobs, Money, Status & Love etc. are the Cups !!! They are just TOOLS to hold and contain Life. Please Don't Let the CUPS Drive you !! Enjoy the COFFEE ......!!! What is life ? They say its from B to D...from Birthday to Death..But what's between B and D? Its a " C " Choice ... Our life is a matter of choices... Live well and it will never go wrong. ...Badri 2) Advocate Krishnaveni Govind Shared a link on Facebook https://fb.watch/imPAxhGtCn/?mibextid=pqv7b8 Seniors Retirement Villas 3) Raghu Nayar Shared a Video of his daughter's wedding on January 27, 2023 https://www.youtube.com/live/jJmsTL1Obdo?feature=share B Babusenan's Column EGO All will agree that, in any language, the most powerful word is a particular personal pronoun. In the English language, it is the single- letter monosyllabic word'I' , inside of which is ensconced the word EGO. This we generally refer to as 'ahankaar', 'ahambhaav' Or 'ahambuddhi.' In recent times, the prefix 'E 'has acquired a meaning of its own. It represent the very popular word 'Electronics'- E-mail for example. Perhaps, the day is not very far off when one might be tempted to say "E(please) go"This is in fun(of a low variety, of course) Whether one likes it or not, ego is there in every one. It is more manifest in artists, writers, politicians and intellectuals. In the last category mentioned belongs the famous Sir. Isaac Newton whose notorious quarrel with the German thinker Leibniz on the fatherhood of Calculus drove English mathematics one century behind the continental one. When Newton died ,the poet Alexander Pope wrote the lines: " Nature and nature's laws Lay hid in night; And God said'Let Newton be' And all was light. " These lines were used as his epitaph. It was not unlikely that Newton would have grumbled in his grave: "The fellow could have written this when I was alive. " It cannot be denied that great deeds were accomplished with the help of ego. Two big names come to our minds exemplifying the two exteme aspects of human ego. One is that of Asoka, the great. He felt something as great and transforming and he wanted others also to feel so. What worked there was his ego. As the feeling was noble, like fragrance in pure gold, the world acknowledged Asoka as a great monarch. At the other end stands Adolf Hitler. Suffice to say that this German dictator's ego was of the worst kind. Sometimes, some of us feel like many of our politicians: Chandra bimbam edutthenikkoru Chaanayaakki uraykkanam Sooryabimbam edutthenikkoru Choondayaakki valaykkanam (I want to use the moon as a grinding stone and the sun as a hook to catch fish) It is a worrying thought and many have offered solutions either to eliminate it or stop it raising its venomous hood often. Here is one offered by a prominent poet of the South Indian bhakthi movement. I mean Ezhutthassan of the 16th century who wrote 'AdhyaatmaRamaayana 'and 'Bhaaratha' in Malayalam and is regarded as the 'father of modern Malayalam literature'. In another book of verses he wrote in praise of Lord Vishnu (the book is known as 'Harinaamakeerthana') he tackles the ego problem at the beginning itself(3rd verse) : "O, Lord, let me not feel ego at any time. If that is not feasible, let me have the feeling that everything in this world is I. " In spiritual parlance ,what the poet wants is equivalent to' Aham Brahmaasmi,' that is the Lord and the bhaktha are one and the same. That is the motto of an a Advaitin and Ezhutthassan was an Advaitin. During the one year the value moved between 95 percent and 105 percent. Now it's hovering around 97 percent. I'm comfortable with the performance of the Mutual Fund. Media Response : Market behaviour January 30, 2023 Market place behaviour* This refers to the report "Adani Enterprises will postpone expansion plan if the FPO fails" (The Hindu Business Line, January 30). "A bold statement from a no-nonsense company", someone quipped. Let's accept that the external campaign against Adani Group had its ripple effect on Indian equity market. But the word "market" traditionally doesn't have any reputation for using commonsense. For sure, the quick accountant's response covered in this report is only an impulsive first aid reaction from the group and we have to wait for Plan B before coming to conclusions. So far, the losses are negligible as compared to the gains the group made in recent times. Such shocks are normal, considering the blow hot blow cold approach the devloped world has been practicing against the present government in Delhi. Let's wait and watch how things evolve. M G Warrier Mumbai *HBL didn't publish this on January 31, 2023 D Collage Faith Why go to a Place of Worship* ? I think this is fantastic, I just love the guy's answer, enjoy it and pass it on . If you're spiritually alive, you're going to love this! If you're spiritually dead, you won't want to read it. If you're spiritually curious, there is still hope! A temple goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to temple atleast once a week. He wrote : "I've gone for 30 years now, and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 satsangs, but for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time, the preachers and priests are wasting theirs by preaching to us about the Almighty". This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column. Much to the delight of the editor, it went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher: "I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals." "But I do know this : They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today." "Likewise, if I had not gone to temple for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today! That is what going to temple and praying to GOD does ... it keeps you spiritually alive!!" When you are DOWN to nothing, God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical and our spiritual nourishment! IF YOU CANNOT SEE GOD IN ALL, YOU CANNOT SEE GOD AT ALL 🙏 *Shared by Dr T V Gopalakrishnan Collage View : Dushyant Sridhar is an engineer from BITs Pilani and has taken upanyas as full time profession (Listen to him using the first link -Lecture on Vishnu Sahasranamam- today). His formal education upto graduation was in engineering. Now read the message at A1 shared by Badrinarayanan. Any time in life one can make right choices and change direction. Both, the person who said he didn't gain much by going to temples all through his life and the one who explained the "spiritual nourishment" he received from prayers can be right. We measure and judge using the tools and evidence available before us. We are also right at that point in time. How I can talk like this? My life so far has taught all these and more. It does not suffice to have mere edn, knowledge and ability; one must have the awareness necessary for the present moment. A small story for illustration. There was a great musician. Once he had been to a circus. In the performance a bear was dancing to the tune of the violinist of the circus. The musician approached the him and said : "You can make only a trained bear dance to your tunes. But my music can make any animal dance." The circus artist rejected the claim & there was a heated discussion. The circus artist sent a lion in front of the musician. The lion on hearing his music began to dance ecstatically. Next a cheetah came and it also danced. A row of animals came one by one and danced with merriment and there was a huge applause. Next the circus artist sent a tiger. The musician became jubilant and continued playing. The tiger was least enchanted by the music. It never cared for the music. It charged at the musician thirsty for his blood. The smart audience got the pulse of the tiger and started getting scattered in terror. The musician threw his violin in the air and ran for his life. The trainers caught the tiger and locked it up in the cage. The musician accepted his defeat and yet was curious to know why his music failed to enchant that particular animal. The circus artist said with a smile"the reason is very simple. The tiger is stone deaf by birth and it does not have ears or even apertures for hearing. The audience noticed this and tried to escape. But you were so engrossed in your playing that you failed to notice this simple fact." All wonderful skills may get totally nullified due to lack of presence of mind. The boy replied, No, he was always minding his own business! SOORYA 30 TH JANUARY 2023. If you are Indian entrepreneur, you have not only to fight with global competitors but also inside your leg pullers as well. Ref : "Enough reasons to understand well, why we are still a Developing Nation.!!" My View : I totally disagree. US and UK together appropriated to themselves more than 75 percent of world's resources by 1950. They abused industries, science and technology to ensure that the remaining geographies remained illiterate and poor which they used to get cheap labour and market their arms and medicines. The present chaos is their creation arising from the fear that their hold on countries like India is not working as it did till 2000. Their motives are getting exposed.
