A lesson from Gujarat
The recent happenings in Gujarat particularly the events that led to NDA winning two out of three RS seats for which elections were held and Congress which won a single seat on technical grounds do not augur well for democratic processes in India. Rights and wrongs apart, invalidation of votes polled for the alleged loss of secrecy because the voters opted to divulge the name of the candidate for whom they voted (nothing more has happened by holding up the ballot papers) will open a hornet's nest of legal Issues.
Dragging Election Commission to Apex Court on this issue will further diminish the already sagging trust of "WE THE PEOPLE" in the electoral system in India.
