Has the UPA already given up? | Business Line

Within the limited choice, whether the common man goes with UPA or NDA to make one of them ‘stronger’ with a higher number in Lok Sabha may interest people involved in channel discussions or pre-poll surveys. As governments at centre and states have managed to maintain literacy level in India at a low level, much of the media debates will not percolate to the ground level. Voting pattern will be decided by the quality and quantum of sensation in what hired workers of political parties convey during the crucial fortnight preceding the election.
In such a scenario, country for its survival in one piece is dependent on sane citizens who are not involved in the kind of politics politicians handle, and are busy working hard in various capacities in sectors from defence to agriculture. The growing middle class which is part of this category of citizens will change the direction of Indian politics. They have the capacity to differentiate good and bad and they will be the torch bearers of emerging India about which country statesmen like Kalam, Chandrababu Naidu and many others have visions expressed in black and white in recent years.
