Can’t relax against hunger | Business Line

My VIEW:

Hunger, like pain, will be really understood by those who have really experienced it. Last year, my friend in Kerala lamented that there were no poor people, as he could not get enough people to feed on a day of his choice. Media talk about cost of food and complain about food subsidy enjoyed by MPs. MPs get some of the items of food at real cost price and the subsidy they get is shared by middlemen. If we cannot ensure distributive justice, millions will continue to remain hungry. Bengal Famine may not repeat. But under-nourished children will continue to die in several parts of the world when food is destroyed to ensure price stability.
