The worst sin a married
person can commit is, woeing /separating the spouse of another person with
the intention of accepting the abandoned person as his/her own spouse. The
punishment is full time security duty in the hell for the rest of the
person's life.
Ravana escaped because of his decent behavior with Sita (According to one version Sita was Ravana's daughter)

Was Ravana's conduct towards Sita
was "decent" or perforce decent? Read the following:
Brahma cursed Ravana since Ravana seduced celestial nymph Punjikasthala. “अद्यप्रà¤ृति यामन्याम् बलान्नारीम् गमिष्यसि | तदा ते शतधा मुर्धा फलिष्यति न संशयः ||” ६-१३-१४ ‘adyaprabhriti yaamanyaam balaannaariim gamisyasi | tadaa te shatadhaa murdhaa phalisyati na samshayah ||’ 6-13-14 “From today onwards, if you revel with any other woman forcibly, your head then undoubtedly will break asunder into a hundred pieces.” So, when Sita did not respond according to the advances of Ravana towards Her, Ravana could have had no choice: the only choice was his own destruction. Coming to the subject of the Aattam, Mandodari was a helpless wife as her counseling of Ravana had had no positive effect. Mandodari has the distinguished position of being considered as one of the Pancha Kanyaas (Ahalyaa, Draupadi, Sita, Taara, Mandodari Thathhaa Pancha Kanyaa Smarennithyam, Mahaapaathaka Naashanam.) |
