Warrier's COLLAGE June 18, 2021 : G Aravindan remembered

Welcome to Warrier's COLLAGE Friday June 18, 2021 1) G Aravindan https://youtu.be/bUOaRP0ilpc 2) Kummatty : Malayalam Movie https://youtu.be/W9dECzwS-oE Good Morning Nice Day M G Warrier Satsangam with Panchapagesan Signet* is a secret communication between Rama and Sita. First of all giving it to others is not to be contemplated as Sugreeva sent feelers in four directions ONLY to find out the location of Sita. He had chosen South deputing Hanuman as we all know four Directions are all: East Indra with Agni, West Varuna with Vayu North Soma with Easanam. They are all friendly directions as Sugreeva is also Deva Amsam symbolic to Indra.... Since three directions were friendly unlike South where Yama and Nrudhdhi are there which are harmful and destructive forces Ravana might use Sita as a bait for achieving his ambition. This was anticipated assumption of Sugreeva which was proved to be correct.. Added to that He foresaw to be on safer side sending Hanuman, a reliable and trusted person with a signet that In case she was there, the signet would be used for proper identification...... Otherwise he could bring it back as Signet is a secret understanding between Rama and Sita and it cannot be given to all. After all people from other three directions could return empty-handed as they were not far off comparing the southern direction... Be Well, V. T. Panchapagesan *Signet Meaning : A small seal, especially one set in a ring, used instead of, or with a signature to give authentication. This is the time we all like and welcome such nuggets of wisdom and pearls of truth as also flashes of humour. Whatever be the chaos and calamities, life goes on. But the greatest luck in life is, to die in time. N V Krishna Warrier the eminent polymath and polyglot has written a poem about the old age. The conclusion was drawn after reading that. "An elegy written in the country church yard"* is apt and appreciate to recall and relish. * https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/44299/elegy-written-in-a-country-churchyard B Vaccination follow up : Nandakumar reports : Vaccination Drive in Kochi The first phase of our vaccination drive against COVID 19 was held yesterday at St Augustine School near to our community hall RBISQ Kaloor. Nandakumar C Readers' Contribution 1) S Nallasivan Hyderabad First things first, Let us bless the 28 days old child. Our blessings to Anmay 🙏 Now I want the answers : Anmay Krishnan, an hitherto unheard of name. We have known Unnikrishnans, Anathakrishnana, Balakrishnans, Kunhikrishnans, Rama Krishnans, Chinnikrishnans, Sivaramakrishnans, Radhakrishnans Harikrishnans, Jayakrishnanans, Santhanakrishna, last but not the least Kochukrishnans, to recall a few immediately As Krishna endears Himself to all, the name Krishna too suits admirably with any name. Then Anmay refuse to go from my mind until an answer is found. Had this Child been born last month May* it could have caused more confusion, An May! I am always very slow and my thinking process has stopped, thanks to my age, long ago. Then I remembered Sundar Pitchai who offered the fastest and most efficient search engine, I ventured to unravel the uniqueness of Anmay. Now I know Anmay is a male child born in Mesha Rasi, with Star Kritika, with born traits, Invaluable, Precious, and not easily broken It is another name of Lord Siva His parents must have been ingenious and innovative, Modern with traces of tradition. And he must be their first child to garner precious time to choose his name. Even today there are parents who adhere strictly to choose the name of own parents for their kids, like the father who chose Govind for his son. In my wife's family they have a kind of Guinness record of all female unto the fourth Generation. My mother-in-law (94), Sister-in-law (64), Niece (41) and her twin daughters (8) Have you ever wondered as to why women are gifted with fourth generation, great grand children sooner than men. S Nallasivan (*Born in May. Many Thanks for your thoughtful comments and blessings. Amazing answer by Mr Awadhesh Singh, an ex student of IT-BHU (now IIT-BHU) When I was doing my B Tech, there was a Professor Das Talukedar who used to teach us ‘Mechanics’. His lectures used to be very interesting since he had an interesting way to teach and explain the concepts. One day, in the class, he asked the following questions, 1. What is ZERO? 2.What is INFINITY? 3. Can ZERO and INFINITY be same? We all thought that we knew the answers and we replied as following, ZERO means nothing INFINITY means a number greater than any countable number ZERO and INFINITY are opposite and they can never be same He countered us by first talking about infinity and asked, ‘How can there be any number which is greater than any countable number?’ We had no answers. He then explained the concept of infinity in a very interesting way, which I remember even after more than 35 years. He said that imagine that there is an illiterate shepherd who can count only upto 20. Now, if the number of sheep he has less than 20 and you ask him how many sheep he has, he can tell you the precise number (like 3, 5 14 etc.). However, if the number is more than 20, he is likely to say “TOO MANY”. He then explained that in science infinity means ‘too many’ (and not uncountable) and in the same way zero means ‘too few’ (and not nothing) As an example, he said that if we take the diameter of the Earth as compared to distance between Earth and Sun, the diameter of earth can be said to zero since it is too small. However, when we compare the same diameter of earth with the size of a grain, diameter of earth can be said to be infinite. Hence, he concluded that the same thing can be ZERO and INFINITE at the same time, depending on the context, or your matrix of comparison. The relationship between richness and poverty is similar to the relationship between infinity and zero. It all depends on the scale of comparison with your wants. If your income is more than your wants, you are rich. If your wants are more than your income, you are poor. I consider myself rich because my wants are far less than my income. I have become rich not so much by acquiring lots of money, but by progressively reducing my wants and having friends like you. If you can reduce your wants, you too can become rich at this very moment. God is not someone sitting somewhere far away from us. God manifests right in front of us in the form of this meaningful creation. God is everywhere, in every form. In fact, everything is God." E Blogs & Links 1) Reader's Digest Article on Covid 19 https://www.readersdigest.in/conversations/story-if-not-now-when-127222 "COVID-19 is primarily a respiratory disease. The lungs are the killing field. To anybody who studies air pollution, it was evident that serious disease was linked to a poor AQI. It was an inconvenient truth and was predictably ignored. Only recently have scientific papers explored and validated this observation. India has the world’s worst AQI and we have persistently, pathologically, ignored it.Physical distancing is the only measure that has helped so far, and what have we done? Yes, we have masks, but what about propinquity? Can you ensure a 6-foot-gap in a panicked crowd at a railway station? At political rallies? At the mêlée during the Kumbh Mela? All these are super spreader events: not only is the virus transmitted madly,it also mutates exuberantly into more infectious avatars. Public gatherings in the time of COVID-19 have put millions of lives at risk. They are crimes against humanity. There is a lot each of us can do to reverse this situation into a more manageable one. Start with the understanding that our body is equipped already to fight off COVID-19 if we don’t meddle with its strengths. We can do that by cleaning up the air in our immediate vicinity. Stop smoking.Do not permit bonfires of garbage. The airway has a wonderful defence system in place. Mucus entraps particles and sweeps them upwards and away from the lung by the ceaseless activity of microscopic brushes called cilia. This partnership must be allowed to function undisturbed. Mucus does not have to be hawked and spat, it has a job to accomplish. It must be kept supple and fluid by good hydration. Cilia are temperamental—they function best at body temperature. Inhaling steam injures them. Yet most people fumigate their airways with hot steam and smoke from various gums rich in irritant terpenes. Agarbatti, camphor, eucalyptus—the list is endless. Steer clear of them all." 2) Size doesn't matter! https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/readersblog/speaking-minds/size-of-life-does-not-matter-quality-does-33566/ Posted online comments : "without taking sides or saying yes or know, let me appreciate your open statement. this is what is needed. so long as the intention is not to hurt the reader, a writer should feel free to express views. keep writing. a long road with twists and turns and several possible diversions lie ahead!'" F Leisure 1) Presence of mind* The last line is great! A customer walked into the produce section of the local supermarket and asked to buy half a head of cabbage. The boy working in that department told him that they only sold whole heads of cabbage. The man was insistent, that the boy ask the manager about the matter... Walking into the back room, the boy said to the manager, "Some old bastard outside wants to buy half a head of cabbage." As he finished his sentence, he turned around to find that the customer had followed and was standing right behind him, so the boy quickly added, "...and this gentleman kindly offered to buy the other half." The manager approved the deal. Later, the manager said to the boy, "I was impressed with the way you got yourself out of that jam earlier, we like employees, who can think on their feet." Where are you from, son?" "Brazil, sir." the boy replied. "Why did you leave Brazil?" the manager asked. The boy said, "Sir, there's no future there - unless you are a prostitute or a soccer player." "Is that right?" replied the manager. "Did you know that my wife is from Brazil?" "Really Sir?" replied the boy, without missing a beat: "Who did she play for, Sir?" *Received from A P Ramadurai Cheñnai 2) Indian Maths Teacher* An INDIAN Maths Teacher went to Canada to enjoy maple leaves and ate Pizza at a scenic spot for lunch . . . He ordered a 9-inch Pizza. After a while, the Waiter brought two 5-inch diameter pizzas And said the 9-inch pizza was _not_ available and He was giving Him two 5-inches Pizzas instead, and that He was getting 1 inch more for free . . . The Indian Maths Teacher, politely requested the Waiter to speak to the Shop Owner. The Indian Maths Teacher gave Him the mathematical formula to calculate the area of a circle - Circle Area = π r² where π = 3.1415926, 'r' is the radius of the circle . . . And this works out that a 9-inch circle area = 63.62 square inches, while a 5-inch circle area is 19.63 square inches The two 5-inch circle areas add up to 39.26 square inches. The Indian Maths Teacher commented that even if you gave me three pizzas and I'll still lose-out. How can you say you are giving me an extra inch for free . . . The Shop Owner was speechless . . . He finally gave the Indian Maths Teacher 4 pizzas You can never out smart an Indian Maths Teacher . . . *Received from S R Badrinarayanan Cheñnai 3) Humour* A new vacuum salesman knocked at the door…. A lady opened it. Before she could speak... The salesman rushed into the living room and emptied a bag of cow dung on the carpet. Salesman: - Madam, if I couldn't clean this up in the next 3 mins with my new powerful vacuum cleaner, I will EAT all this!! Lady: Do you need Chili Sauce with that? Salesman: - Why Madam? Lady: - Because there's no electricity in the house...!!! MORAL: - "Gather all resources before working on any project and committing to the client... & over smartness can be deadly." *Received from S Thyagarajan Chennai G Quotes about blessings https://www.brainyquote.com/topics/blessings-quotes "Good health and good sense are two of life's greatest blessings."
