A reader reminded me that I had published a book "Banking, Reforms & Corruption : Development Issues in 21st Century India" 12 years ago and asked whether the book was still available :
I responded saying that the
Print Edition was published by a Kolkata based publisher, Sampark, and I think, it's not available now. Later we had renamed the book* and brought out a Kindle edition :

which is currently available @Amazon
(*"Chasing Inclusive Growth : Reforms For Financial Inclusion")
Corruption remains a current topic across the world.

My views on Corruption*
M G Warrier has written extensively on corruption in governance and financial reforms in India. Through his 2014 book, Banking, Reforms & Corruption : Development Issues in 21st Century India, and columns on financial platforms like Moneylife, he provides a unique, ground-level perspective on why public and corporate integrity fails and how to fix it.
Rather than focusing solely on legal frameworks, Warrier's philosophy centers heavily on civic responsibility and public accountability.
Core Philosophy : "Power to the People"
In his prominent thesis on anti-corruption, Warrier argues that corruption in governance cannot be fixed from the top down by creating new bureaucratic oversight bodies.
The Fallacy of New Institutions : He asserts that institutional solutions like the Lokpal or endless debates in Parliament are insufficient on their own.
The Silent Spectators : He strongly notes that systemic degeneration is perpetuated because average citizens, the media, and uncorrupted officials within the legislature, executive, and judiciary remain silent spectators due to varied personal compulsions.
Collective Civic Action : His primary recommendation is that a real cure will only emerge when everyday individuals—those who do not directly participate in government—actively organize and collectively oppose corrupt practices across both the public and private sectors.
Systemic & Financial Perspectives
Drawing from his extensive career with the RBI, Warrier bridges the gap between public administrative corruption and corporate/banking governance:
Neglect of Human Resources : He frequently connects poor corporate governance to deliberate organizational flaws. For example, he has written that "talent deficits" and poor succession planning within public institutions create breeding grounds for ad-hocism and systemic vulnerabilities.
The Intersections of Public & Private Graft : Warrier emphasizes that corruption is an interconnected cycle. Corporate irregularities directly impact public banking systems, which in turn robs the state of capital needed for development and public welfare.
