My VIEW:
If the bank unions go
ahead with the 4-day strike from Feb 25, FM Arun Jaitley will be presenting
Budget 2015-16 on the 4th day of the bank strike. We do not need an
astrologer to tell us that the strike from February 25 is quite unlikely to
materialise. Then, why IBA did not take the ‘final’ round of negotiations
seriously and the unions’ stand toughened, suddenly?

The answer is, this is
the game political leadership, bureaucracy and trade unions are playing successfully
to fool the public. The political leadership will take credit for either
solving the issue using carrot and stick during the coming fortnight or for
breaking the backbone of a combination of trade unions by making the proposed
strike a failure. The crucial HR issues will remain unresolved and get carried
forward to the next settlement.
