Warrier's Collage April 5, 2021

Welcome to Warrier's Daily COLLAGE On Monday April 5, 2021 Good Morning Nice Day M G Warrier A Interaction 1) E X Joseph Atlanta US Good Morning. Your Collage is a beautiful garland, a variety of colourful, fragrant flowers of thoughts and experiences woven together! Also garlands do not lose their fragrance with time..though they do dry up. So too your Collage. They are indelible! They do stay in memory. Congrats to you and also to all those wonderful friends who contribute. ( Many Thanks. Perhaps you may be remembering, collecting flowers and making garlands for worship in temples, are part of the traditional functions of my community in Kerala. Beyond the encouragement the words convey, you do not know the soothing feeling somewhere inside I get, when I receive a message even in one word, from people who really know and understand me. Collage has at least six to 10 readèrs who are 85 plus (some of them are part of Collage as contributors) who are "regular in attendance" When I put together Collage every day, I remember magazines including Audit, Labour World and Century you edited and publications like Mainstream, Blitz and Shankar's Weekly brought out against several odds by individuals. I'm not comparing. Just remembering contributions made by individuals. 🙏-Warrier) 2) V Babusenan Thiruvananthapuram Left &/or Right! "Enthen idathu tholum Kannum thudippathenna? Imbam varuvathenna? Sol, sol ,sol, kiliye" If am not mistaken, this is a song in the famous Tamil film, 'Sakuntala' the singer being M S Subbalekshmi. Here 'imbam' stands for physical pleasure and Sakuntala imagines her marriage with the king Dushyantha. She further imagines that she is sitting on his left side and that the king puts his left hand softly over her left shoulder which is a sign of protection and affection /love. Take another example. You are walking along the road with your child. Suddenly a street dog comes barking at you. Instinctively you hold the child closer to you with your left hand and, with the folded umbrella in your right hand, you give the dog a fierce blow, or, with the right leg, you kick it away. This is how the human brain is made to act.In this case also the object of protection and affection is on one's left side. Whatever one may say or think, the wedding ceremony is essentially symbolic of physical happiness and the elaborate rituals are intended to discourage a person from repeating the phenomenon of marriage at his sweet will. It is not unlikely that, to indicate that the other functions involving husband and wife are rather serious and spiritually inclined, their sitting posture is changed. There exists an analogy. In Kerala most people wear mundu with the loose end on the right side. But some people, to show that they are different, wear it in the opposite way. 3) Vathsala Jayaraman Chennai Shri Panchapagesan's article on Krishna drew my memories to a simple story told by my Amma during my childhood days. The archaka was again shocked. That day also he saw a bit of cowdung sticking to Krishna's ears. Daily he locks the doors of the temple during night;but when he comes in the morning, the cowdung paste would be seen on Krishna's ears. He was greatly disturbed.Daily I do Chandana Kaappu. But where does this cowdung come from? There is not even a duplicate key to this lock. That day while locking he saw an old woman was sitting having Darshan of Krishna. That lady was a frequent visitor and the Archaka knew her well. He asked the lady"what did you pray?" Patti:- "Yesterday Krishna took lot of butter. I fear that he should not suffer indigestion." Pujari:- Did you pray anything for you? Patti:- I am very old. I don't need anything. Many people are asking this and that and Krishna blesses them all raising His hand. Will not his hands pain? Daily I am asking him to take rest. He never listens. His speech every one listens and calls it as Gita. The archaka interestingly listened to her words, He felt what great faith that lady had towards Krishna. He felt that the person who applies cowdung paste to Krishna's ears should listen to this old woman. The archaka locked the door.Went home. His thoughts were about the cow dung. Lord Krishna appeared in his dreams, commanded him to leave his mortal coil and take a sookshma shareea,go to the old woman's house and see what happens.Later he could regain his body. The sookshma shareera was witnessing what the patti was doing. She was reciting Krishna stotras. She started cleaning the clay oven with cowdung. Some cowdung was still in her hand. She said "Sarvam Krishnaarpanam" and threw away the little cowdung paste through her window. As the sookshma shareera was witnessing, the cowdung paste entered the locked temple and stuck to Krishna's ears. Paatti got up early. She said "Krishna, it was very cold. Did you cover yourself well? Water also is cold.It wont suit you..Please hot water to wash your face. She drew beautiful kolam saying Shri Krishna Naamaavali. She started cooking. Archakar got up. Went to the temple.Today also he saw cowdung paste on Krishna's ears. But it didn't trouble him. He took the paste considering it as prasadam, packed it in banana leaf and kept inside his dhothi. He was waiting for old lady in the evening. She never turned up. That day also Krishna appeared in his dreams. He said 'Tomorrow her soul reaches me. Go to her house. Certain scenes will be revealed to you only.' Archaka went to her house. Her body was laid on a mat. He could witness a pushpaka vimana arriving to take the old lady. He could clearly listen to the conversation. "Krishna, I am a poor old woman. I never need such things." Krishna said "You are more than Amma to me". He converted the Athma into two shining ear-rings and started wearing the same. Archaka came home, took bath. Opened the temple. No symptom of cowdung on Krishna's ears. Two beautiful golden ear rings were shining on Krishna's ears. He could not control his tears. Yet, they only seem to add to the stress and tension of our lives.. We see young men and women walk down parks and green lanes With earphones completely shutting out the world of beauty around them.. Possessions and Acquisitions may seem marvelous. But after a while, we do not own them, they own us... When our life becomes complicated with Power and Possessions, We move farther and farther away from the simple joys and pleasures of life.. We fail to notice the green grass and the fresh morning flowers around us.. We do not have time to hear birds singing or watch our little ones smiling.. We drift away from the state of childhood innocence and simple joy, Which is our basic nature... Simplicity is not Self-denial. It is a return to those values that matter most In life.It emphasizes spontaneity and intuition. It helps us to rediscover The feeling of wonder and joy that we have lost as Adults.. A famous actress was interviewed on Television . She had made a fortune That year. “Does it make you feel good?” She was asked. “Yes and No.” she replied thoughtfully . “Everyone thinks it is marvelous. So many people flock around me. But I really do not know who my true Friends are and who are with me only for the money and the glamour. As for my daily life, it has not changed much, except that I work harder now..” There was a young girl among them, who happened to glance at the window Of a jewellery shop which they passed. On display was a beautiful, brilliant Diamond bracelet..How it sparkled and shone! The girl’s eyes opened wide. She went very close to the window to inspect the price. She could not afford it.. She caught up with her friends but she was not the happy, laughing, Bobby girl That she had seen five minutes earlier . Her cheerful, buoyant attitude had been Replaced by a mood of glum disappointment... This is the worst part about wanting things . Getting them may give us momentary Happiness. Panchapagesan D Story Time with Vathsala Jayaraman The Bell🔔 and Anjaneya🐒 The bell is very much related to us in our daily life and it is associated with laws of Resonance in Physics. Normally people make a vow to tie bells on the doors of Hayagreeva temple, so that Lord hayagreeva, counterpart of Goddess Saraswathi may bestow his/her blessings. There is a custom to tie a bell on the tail of hanuman if there is a problem/crisis.There is an interesting legend behind this vow. Before leaving for Lanka, Sri Rama raised an army of monkeys and bears. He assured the families of those warriors that" I will lose none but return with all." Vanara army was filled with many varieties of monkeys with varied shape, size and battle power. "SINGALIKA" was one such monkey variety of dwarf vanaras.Sinalikas didn't carry weapons but used teeth and nails to attack enemies. They engaged in deadly melees and fell upon the enemy enmass. Now we come to the time and setting of epic battle between Rama and Ravana. Many warriors including Ravana's sons had fallen. Now it was the turn of Kumbakarana who was riding a chariot decorated with bells all round. As Kumbakarna started falling off from his chariot ,his hand hit aagainst a bell tied to the chariot.Due to the impact of mighty hand of Kumbakarna, the bell got disjointed and fell to the ground. That very moment, a teams of 1000 singalikas were moving towards a demon. They got trapped under this bell which was as huge as a mountain for their size.A sudden darkness prevailed on them and they were unable to figure it out. Moments later one money said" we are trapped for ever. There is no one to save us." They started finding fault with Sugreeva first and then with Hanuman and Rama.An aged monkey shouted at them to calm down and said"Let us chant RAAMA NAAMAM " and see what happens. RAMA NAAMA SMARANA began. Meanwhile Ravana got killed. Rama ordered Sugreeva to count the number of warriors on their side. It was short by 1000. Count and recount. The same shortage. Rama started walking amidst the battle field strewn with bodies of slain rakshasas, broken chariots, spears and shields. Little far off, Rama stopped midway and ponted towards a bell. Everyone started seeing quizzically at Rama. Meanwhile Hanuman understood the mind of Rama, inserted his tail into the ring of the bell and lifted it gently. Inside the bell, were 1000 tiny Singalikas with closed eyes and Taraka Naamam in their lips. Thus went an uproar "Jaya Jaya Rama Jaya Jaya Rama' A bright light hitting their eyes, all Sinalikas came to senses. Ah, there is Lord Shri Rama. Those Singalikas stood up like images. They prostrated before the Iotus feet od Shri Rama ,with devotion, more importantly seeking pardon to condone the retribution of doubting Rama. Rama smiled and bestowed His'Karasparsha' on them. Rama turned his eyes towards Hanuman with a shining bell in his tail.Rama bestowed a boon that whoever worships Anchaneya with a bell in his tail with greater Gnana, Bhakthi and Vairagya. They will be brought out from ignorance just like Singalikas were restored from darkness. One should never lose faith in adversities however dreadful they be. The tinyness of monkeys symbolise how one shrinks in morale during distress. The outbursts shown by some monkeys indicate the aggressive or abusive nature of a stressed person. Hanuman represents the calmness and logical part of the brain Rama symbolises the consciousness that beholds the whole psychology. Everybody who has attained elderly status would surely agree that adulting had never been easy. The same maxim continues to this day and holds true for the working population. There aren’t very many people whom life served on a platter. Oh boy, don’t we all realize at some point or other that life just happened to us? How life will show up in its course is in no ordinary man’s hands. As an adult one may have to live on his or her own, pay their bills all by themselves, and there will be many other responsibilities to undertake that may become part of their daily routine which they probably never even had to deal with before becoming an adult. What soon ensues is burn-out, that is, a state where physical and mental fatigue leads to less and less effective performance in work and personal life bringing in frustration and dissatisfaction. Happiness would vanish from life. Under the circumstances staying physically and mentally fit couldn’t be arguably ignored. After all, we need to eat healthily, sleep healthy, experience loving emotions at all times, and work well." F Leisure 1) The pregnant deer* THE PREGNANT DEER - _such a beautiful story !_ In a forest, a pregnant deer is about to give birth. She finds a remote grass field near a strong-flowing river. This seems a safe place. Suddenly labour pains begin. At the same moment, dark clouds gather around above & lightning starts a forest fire. She looks to her left & sees a hunter with his bow extended pointing at her. To her right, she spots a hungry lion approaching her. What can the pregnant deer do? She is in labour! What will happen? Will the deer survive? Will she give birth to a fawn? Will the fawn survive? Or will everything be burnt by the forest fire? Will she perish to the hunters' arrow? Will she die a horrible death at the hands of the hungry lion approaching her? She is constrained by the fire on the one side & the flowing river on the other & boxed in by her natural predators. _What does she do? _ _She focuses on giving birth to a new life._ The sequence of events that follows are: - Lightning strikes & blinds the hunter. - He releases the arrow which zips past the deer & strikes the hungry lion. - It starts to rain heavily, & the forest fire is slowly doused by the rain. - The deer gives birth to a healthy fawn. In our life too, there are moments of choice when we are confronted on αll sides with negative thoughts and possibilities. Some thoughts are so powerful that they overcome us & overwhelm us. Maybe we can learn from the deer. The priority of the deer, in that given moment, was simply to give birth to a baby. _The rest was not in her hands & any action or reaction that changed her focus would have likely resulted in death or disaster._ Ask yourself, Where is your focus? Where is your faith and hope? _In the midst of any storm, do keep faith on creator always. He will never ever dissapoint you. NEVER._ Remember, He neither slumbers nor sleeps... Affirmation of the day: I speak with gentleness and love. I exhale only the good. *Received from Shivram Shetty Mumbai 2) Donkey story* (An old story retold) Old man, a boy and donkey were going to town. The boy rode on the donkey.and the old man walked. As they went along they passed some people who remarked it was a shame the old man was walking and the healthy boy was riding. The boy and the man thought may be the critics were right, so they changed positions. Later they passed some people that remarked, what a shame, he made that little boy walk. They then decided that both would walk. Soon they passed some more people who thought they were stupid to walk when they had a decent donkey to ride. So, they both rode the the donkey. Now it was turn of the next villagers who shamed them by saying how awful to put such a load on the poor donkey. They old man and the boy concluded that they probably were right, so they decided to carry the donkey. As they crossed the bridge they lost their grip on the animal and it fell into the river and drowned. *Received from S Nallasivan Hyderabad G Quotes about EASTER SUNDAY https://m.timesofindia.com/life-style/events/happy-easter-sunday-2021-wishes-messages-quotes-images-facebook-whatsapp-status/amp_articleshow/81884686.cms Like: "Lots of wishes to you and your family on the day of holy Easter!
