Warrier's Collage 13072020 : Part II Upanishads Note : There was no "Collage" ( Warrier's Collage 12072020 : ...) on Sunday, July 12, 2020. Today, Part I is on "Current Affairs" Watch "Sri M - 'Essence of the Upanishads' - Day 1 - Talks in Bangalore - 2nd Nov 2018" https://youtu.be/Tsb0kPJADXA Excellent introduction to Upanishads by Sri M Good Morning Have a great day M G Warrier A. Idea of "Moksham" Message from V Babusenan received on July 11, 2020 : "It is a delightful thought that there is a poet in Shri Warrier. On reading his imagery, my mind went back to a poem on a fallen flower by a great poet in Malayalam. I am tempted to give here the meaning of four lines of it: " He who was the most detached He who fled for his life from enemy . Whoever he might be, if not blind Would've stopped to see you in bloom. Until yesterday, I felt I had done some thing for the world. Today, on reading the achievements of PPR, I felt, in my own humble way, like Nehru who said on listening to MS: "Who am I, am mere Prime Minister, before this Queen of music." Regards." Definition of God "Defining" God Watch "Swami Sarvapriyananda at IITK: Defining God, based on Taittiriya Upanishad" https://youtu.be/Ftn4zCnheBk A friend in some context quoted "Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya..." yesterday. Brihadaranyaka Upanishad is one among the few Upanishads which Shankaracharya selected for writing commentaries. E. Story Time 9 short stories worth reading* 1. *FALL and RISE* Today, when I slipped on the wet tile floor a boy in a wheelchair caught me before I slammed my head on the ground. He said, “Believe it or not, that’s almost exactly how I injured my back 3 years ago . 2. *A FATHER'S ADVICE* Today, my father told me, “Just go for it and give it a try! You don’t have to be a professional to build a successful product. Amateurs started Google and Apple. Professionals built the Titanic 3. *The POWER of UNIQUENESS* . Today, I asked my mentor – a very successful business man in his 70’s – what his top 3 tips are for success. He smiled and said, “Read something no one else is reading, think something no one else is thinking, and do something no one else is doing. 4. *LOOKING BACK* Today, I interviewed my grandmother for part of a research paper I’m working on for my Psychology class. When I asked her to define success in her own words, she said, “Success is when you look back at your life and the memories make you smile." 5. *TRY and YOU shall KNOW* I am blind by birth. When I was 8 years old, I wanted to play baseball. I asked my father- "Dad, can I play baseball?" He said "You'll never know until you try." When I was a teenager, I asked him, - "Dad Can I become a surgeon?". He replied "Son, you'll never know until you try." Today I am a Surgeon, just because I tried! 6. *GOODNESS & GRATITUDE* Today, after a 72 hour shift at the fire station, a woman ran up to me at the grocery store and gave me a hug. When I tensed up, she realized I didn’t recognize her. She let go with tears of joy in her eyes and the most sincere smile and said, “On 9-11-2001, you carried me out of World Trade Centre" 7. *LOOKING BACK* Today, as my father, three brothers, and two sisters stood around my mother’s hospital bed, my mother uttered her last coherent words before she died. She simply said, “I feel so loved right now. We should have gotten together like this more often.” 8. *AFFECTION* Today, I kissed my dad on the forehead as he passed away in a small hospital bed. About 5 seconds after he passed, I realized it was the first time I had given him a kiss since I was a little boy. 9. *SHARING* Today, I was traveling in Kenya and I met a refugee from Zimbabwe. He said he hadn’t eaten anything in over 3 days and looked extremely skinny and unhealthy. Then my friend offered him the rest of the sandwich he was eating. The first thing the man said was, “We can share it.” _Cheers to life_😊 _*One of the best posts, ever gone through.....thanks to all those who decided to share these real life experiences*_ *Received via group email from Prabha Ramadurai, Ex-RBI F. Responses 1) Shri K Ramasubramanian's response to Saturday's content : "Good morning. Today's collage is very interesting to include two of the RBI GREAT personalities pursuing literary work. Both are recognised and well known. I am proud to be a colleague of these two giants. May god bless them with long and healthy life. Regards Ramasubramanian" 2) R Narayanan Shri R Narayanan, Ex-RBI, Thiruvananthapuram (my batch-mate, 1968/9) responded on Saturday, July 11, 2020 : "Good Morning. Read the article of Vathsala Jayaraman on Maya. I really enjoyed it. She has narrated the theme Brahman, the realization of which is the ultimate goal of human beings, as envisaged in our various Upanishads. The theme Maya has been beautifully explained by giving examples. Incidentally, I am a regular reader of your daily column. It is good that you have published the responses of your readers in your column and most of such postings are very interesting. Thanking you for the effort put in by you for daily posts without much breaks. R Narayanan" 3) T R S Iyer Iyer's response to Collage of 11072020 : "Extremely happy to read your article on PPR He is a great man indeed He is my Friend Philosopher and Guide I was with him in ARDC CO and again in DBOD CO Mumbai before retirement His younger brother Bala Subramanian was with me in UTI While in TVM he gave guarantee to Madam Gayatri Devi Principal of Arya Central School that Iyer's daughters will do well in their studies before giving admission His two books are masterpiece" (TRS and I worked together in RPCD, CO -Warrier)
