Editor promptly answered YES.Today's (June 26) collage is unusually long. A fitting response. No one will now dare to make suggestions. (Last week Collage had some holidays. So, Weekend edition became unmanageably bulky. Actually cutting Collage to size was one of the two suggestions Collage received recently. Second suggestion was that Collage should reconsider coming out in colours. Both will be kept in view for future compliance. D Collage Mythology : Vathsala Jayaraman Ravana's ten heads Ravana was earlier known as Dasa Greeva only, Greeva is a Sanskrit word meaning ( neck ) a person with 10 shoulders. As Dasa-Greeva found it difficult to go to Kailasa everyday to worship Shiva, he wanted to lift the mountain Kailash and bring it to his place. He inserted all his heads underneath the mountain to lift the same. This was not cherished by Parvathi. On her insistence Shiva pressed the mount with one of his fingers of his legs. Dasa-Greeva began to roar terribly, his shoulders being strangled in between. He cut one of his heads,and hand, and with the hand nerve and head he improvised a veena (yazh) and began to play Sama Ganam with which Shiva was pleased and released his foot. As Dasa-Greeva who had not wept for any thing in life earlier roared terribly being caught between the mount, Shiva affectionately called him as Ravana meaning person who cries or roars. Ravana wanted to prepare stairs for our people to go to heaven. 2. He wanted to remove smoke from woods since ladies had to face difficulty while cooking. 3. He wanted to transform ocean water into sweet water. Though Rama and Lakshmana did not agree to grant the desired boons, all Ravana's desires got fulfilled in Kaliyuga. Heaven represented by Luxury like Electricity, efrigerators, Air Conditioners, Computers, there is LPG COOKING GAS which has no smoke. RO PLANTS at home transform salty water into potable water. By now Ravana's roar would have turned into laughter.
