Welcome To Warrier's COLLAGE On Tuesday August 30, 2022 Prayers 🙏 : https://youtu.be/R3RyLwIc4Z8 (Link Courtesy : Saravana Varma Mumbai) Introduction to Ottan Thullal https://youtu.be/Wu22bYdYTlE Good Morning 🌅 Nice Day M G Warrier A Messages/Responses 1) TNC Rangarajan Shared a "Good News" “The Good News” by Thich Nhat Hanh On December 3, 2015 By Christina's Words In Poetry They don’t publish the good news. The good news is published by us. We have a special edition every moment, and we need you to read it. The good news is that you are alive, and the linden tree is still there, standing firm in the harsh Winter. The good news is that you have wonderful eyes to touch the blue sky. The good news is that your child is there before you, and your arms are available : hugging is possible. They only print what is wrong. Look at each of our special editions. We always offer the things that are not wrong. We want you to benefit from them and help protect them. The dandelion is there by the sidewalk, smiling its wondrous smile, singing the song of eternity. Listen! You have ears that can hear it. Bow your head. Listen to it. Leave behind the world of sorrow and preoccupation and get free. The latest good news is that you can do it. – Thich Nhat Hanh 2) E Madhavan Thrissur Interesting take on Longevity. But what to do when breath rate increases due to the anxieties on longevity!🤔 (Kuruvilla Cherian's story on longevity* : A media person was interviewing Mr Super -Senior to report the secrets of his health and wellbeing, post-80. SS explained his lifestyle and daily routines giving details about vegetarian food, not having touched alcohol or tobacco in life, his not even looking at ladies other than his wife and so on. Suddenly there was lots of shouting and sounds of vessels hitting wall etc and jumping and thumbing from the first floor, interrupting the interview. The journalist was curious when SS asked for a break. SS asked to switch off recording and explained : "Don't worry. That's my 100 plus years old father fighting with his third wife over his affairs with the maid who was brought to cook nonveg food for him. He has been a drunkard since his younger days and I got aversion to bad habits and nonveg food, watching his dirty behaviour since my childhood. The fellow is damn healthy and will be 105 this year, but ") *As retold by M G Warrier B Current Affairs RBI Deputy Governor Michael Patra on Inflation : https://m.rbi.org.in/Scripts/BS_SpeechesView.aspx?Id=1324 Date : Aug 24, 2022 Dynamics of Inflation in South Asia (Keynote address delivered by Dr. Michael Debabrata Patra, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India - August 24, 2022 - at the SAARCFINANCE Seminar hosted by India, New Delhi Excerpts : As central banks and public institutions, we are entrusted with ensuring and maintaining macroeconomic and financial stability and ensuring the progress of our economies to secure the full actualisation of our developmental aspirations. We face challenging trade-offs in our day-to-day functioning and keen public scrutiny. Mostly unsung, our role has undergone a transformation in recent years. From lenders of the last resort, we have become defenders of the first resort. Hence, our response to inflation shocks such as the one we face today has to be predicated on managing expectations and fortifying credibility. If credibility is high and the shock is transitory, inflation returns to equilibrium without the need for any monetary policy action. On the other hand, repeated supply shocks – which we are encountering now – trigger second round effects through cost pushes, expectations, exchange rate and demand channels, warranting pre-emptive monetary policy action. Even with perfect credibility, monetary policy cannot look through the second-round effects of repeated supply shocks. If the inflation target is breached for a prolonged period, this could unsettle expectations and eventually get reflected in higher inflation. Higher credibility can reduce – not substitute for – the monetary policy response to second round effects of repeated supply shocks. At the current juncture, our experience is that by frontloading monetary policy actions, credibility is demonstrated by showing commitment to the inflation target. Another dimension of monetary policy credibility is the timing of its response. A delay in the monetary policy response leads to a further loss of credibility, unhinging of inflation expectations and eventually, higher inflation outcomes with a higher sacrifice of growth. SAARC has great potential for economic expansion with abundant natural resources, human capital and market access. The promotion of economic and social development through increased trade and investment and through deeper regional economic integration holds considerable promise in South Asia. We must rise up to this challenge and seize the window of opportunity even as we recover from the debilitating effects of the pandemic and geopolitical developments. High quality research and engagements in seminars such as this one will help us build capacity and technical skills, illuminating our way forward. The Roadmap of Regional Cooperation which was framed in 2016 needs to be revised to reflect the current realities and focus areas, with quantifiable milestones and timelines within the mandate of SAARCFINANCE. C Media Response : Inflation management 1) M G Warrier responding to The Hindu Business Line report : August 29, 2022 Inflation management This refers to the report "Inflation target breach : Special MPC Meeting likely in October" (August 29, The Hindu Business Line). The motive behind this highly speculative report is incomprehensible. One, September Quarter data will be available only after 6 weeks from now. Two, before that a regular scheduled meeting of MPC is due. Three, the possibility of inflation remaining on the wrong side of 6 percent was known to government and MPC when MPC met this month. Four, the band of 2 to 6 was fixed long ago and several events calling for a revision of target have happened in the recent past about which Government and RBI must be aware and surely a dialogue between them may be a routine ongoing happening. Somehow, one gets a feeling that adequate homework has not been done before writing this report. M G Warrier Mumbai 2) Dr T V Gopalakrishnan's views : Inflation cannot be contained based only on data collected from sources convenient and analysed the way the authorities want. One cannot isolate the ground realities obtaining in the distribution of wealth, widening of inequalities, demands arising perhaps from the middle class consisting of people having good support of NRI remittances, earnings in India in dollar terms by NRIs opted for work from home, monetisation of private assets out of desperation to survive, increased digitalisation of payments having the unimagined potential to generate demand in different ways, supply constraints, administrative lapses in containing black money, corruption, frauds and all sorts of malpractices and innovative ways of bypassing the laws. The real issues on Inflation control if attempted to study can open only a Pandora's Box and whether to go in for that or not is a major issue. Money with a very few can also create inflation is what the present inflation indicates is a fact which cannot be overlooked by the authorities. These are some of my thoughts. As she laid her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the duck's chest. After a moment or two, the vet shook his head sadly and said, “I'm sorry, your duck Cuddles, has passed away.” The distressed woman wailed, “Are you sure?” “Yes, I am sure. The duck is dead,” replied the Vet. “How can you be so sure?” she protested. “I mean you haven't done any testing on him or anything. He might just be in a coma or something.” The vet rolled his eyes, turned around and left the room. He returned a few minutes later with a Labrador. As the duck's owner looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table and sniffed the duck from top to bottom. He then looked up at the vet with sad eyes and shook his head. The vet patted the dog on the head and took it out of the room. A few minutes later he returned with a cat. The cat jumped on the table and also delicately sniffed the bird from head to foot. The cat sat back on its haunches, shook its head, meowed softly and strolled out of the room. The vet looked at the woman and said, “I'm sorry, but as I said, this is most definitely, 100% certifiably, a dead duck.” The Vet turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys and produced a bill, which he handed to the woman. The duck's owner, still in shock, took the bill. “Rs. 3000!” she cried, “Rs. 3000 just to tell me my duck is dead!” The vet shrugged,“I’m sorry. If you had just taken my word for it, the bill would have been Rs.100, but with the "Lab Report " and the "Cat Scan", it's now Rs 3000." THIS IS HEALTH CARE TODAY F Collage Poetry Sports : Franklin Misquith 💐🌷🌻 Indulging in all types of sports, Will take us to different ports, And others on our performance, Will submit reports, So the daily mantra should be sports, Sports and more sports. Let's encourage every child to play some sport, It may be just running around an old fort, Or playing many a tournament on a court, And then, take off with an old friend, For a joy ride in a boat. Sports in all schools, Should be made compulsory, Else, the turn of affairs for the child, Will turn out to be very sorry. Let's sing with joy, And not feel in any way coy, A lassie should act like Helen of Troy, A laddie can make a dash, To a playground, with his favourite toy.👌🧚🏾‍♂️👑 G Quotes on inflation https://www.azquotes.com/quotes/topics/inflation.html When a business or an individual spends more than it makes, it goes bankrupt. When government does it, it sends you the bill. And when government does it for 40 years, the bill comes in two ways : higher taxes and inflation. Make no mistake about it, inflation is a tax and not by accident. Ronald Reagan
