Let's see different facets of Bhakti. Bhakti that is devotion is defined as : ' Bhakti is constant flow of intense love for God that is based on knowledge of attributes of God who is limitless, infinite, auspicious and devoid of any fault.' Bhagwat Purana lists nine forms of 'bhakti' as follows. i) shravana - listening to the glorious deeds of God from scriptures and holy men, ii) kirtana - reciting God's glorious names or praises, iii) smarana - remembering God's glorious deeds that is lila, iv) vandana - offering salutation to God's image, v) archana -worshipping God vi) padasevan - falling prostrate at the feet of God's image, vii) dasya - the state of servant through humility and service to God, viii) sakhya - friendly relation with God, ix) atmanivedana - self dedication to God. Best wishes to all on the eve of 'navratri' festival. *Contributed by V N Kelkar C Book Preview : Arun Shourie https://openthemagazine.com/essay/the-sense-of-an-ending/ About Arun Shourie's book "Preparing for Death" being released on October 26, 2020.
