Excerpts from the article:
"In some ways, I am still fighting the condition. But you are my hope. You keep me going. There are days even now when I don’t want to wake up and get up from bed, but you talk me through and make sure I eat and at least do some of my daily chores."

Sharing
and caring
This refers to Anasuya
Chakrabarty’s article “Thank you for sticking with me” (The Hindu, Open Page, December
22). Beyond the facts of the case, such daring revelations of experiences will
go a long way in infusing confidence in care givers and individuals in
different situations facing challenges, mental and physical. I am not in
medical profession, but my experience is that with the exception of those who
have specialised in psychotherapy or psychology, even doctors come to terms
with the possibility of a patient suffering from ailments like bipolar
disorder, schizophrenia or Alzheimer’s. That being the case with medical
profession, one can imagine the plight of families in reconciling to the
existence of such ailment in the family and seeking medical help.
In such a context,
articles like this help in creating awareness in the society which has a collective
responsibility towards less privileged and challenged members. Thank you,
Anasuya and The Hindu.
